So this is what happened:
I was recently caught at don mills and overlea, facing west making a left turn south at 12 50 in the morning. Going in my direction there were two cars: me and the car behind me.
I was approaching the intersection wanting to make a left turn to head south. At the intersection, the north/south lights were green, and the traffic lights directing cars in my direction (E,W) were red. As i sat there, i dropped something that fell into the driving area (where my legs were). I took off my seatbelt and tried to reach for it and when i retrieved it, the signal was already a green arrow. I did not notice because i was putting away my item. At this moment the vehicle behind me honks and the traffic light turns amber arrow (yellow arrow).
This traffic light turns on the left turn signal ONLY if there is more than one car on the left turn lane, otherwise it doesnt turn on. sometimes even with two cars the signal light does not turn on.
So when the vehicle behind me honked, i looked up and saw the amber yellow, and accellerated. I passed the white line and was 30% done my left turn when the amber arrow disappeared. Then i heard and saw lights flashing from the police car and at that time i saw that it was a police car. the police car pulls me over giving me an HTA 144 (14) Ticket. His reason is that I did not proceed as directed on a green arrow when i did.
he also gave me a ticket for not having my permit. I seldom drive this car, and it is my moms so i couldnt find it in the car.
any ideas how i should approach this? will the judge see it my way, OR will the prosecutor at the "first attendence walkin" see it my way?
Can anyone tell me if i have any chances?
