I'm currently working part-time with a company which my manager really likes my work habit and all...now, i recently was asked to work full time but i'm having difficulty deciding whether i should take it or not. The salary has not been disclosed yet because i told my manager i would need some time to think about it. He told me to let him know by the end of the Summer.

The problem is, i'm a 3rd year university student and not done with school yet. I'm wondering whether or not i should take the job full time and go to school part-time? or just go back and focus on my school first?

It's really hard because opportunities like this don't come around too often.

My options so far:

1) go back to school and continue working part-time

2) if salary is $40,000+ then take the full-time job and go to school part-time

3) ...?

What do you guys think?

I don't think you have given us nearly enough information to offer any suggestions.

If your manager really likes you, he/she will understands that your education is important to you.

Offer to work full time now (summer) and go back to a part time schedule during the school year. As soon as school is finish, you'll be ready to sign away your life with them... ;)

Isn't there someway to work under contract and state that once you graduate in one year, you will work permanent full time? My friend did that with his company. He would work 4 days a week and his salary would be pro-rated because he was still in school. He's working permanent full time now and everything worked out fine.

Also, don't delay your education because it's just going to cost you more in the long run with the extra time in school and all. You say opportunities don't come around that often but it also depends on when this opportunity comes. You'll probably get better opportunities in the future so don't worry about it.

you'll be screwed if you go to school part-time. full-time job will eat away all the time and you'll end up not wanting to do anything for school, if there's only a year left, finish it in 1 year don't do part-time and make it 2 years....

What kind of program are you in university? What kind of companies is it? Are there possible chances that you can be promoted?
I would definitely take the position since you'll need to build up a nice resume for future ambitions. Heck, if the salary is anywhere between 40k + bonus and you're a business student or if you are life science student going for a B. Sc., I say you are perfectly fine doing part time school.

What type of position is this. Is this the job/company/industry you want to be in when you finish school?

You would need to give some more details, but the company has to give you more information about what they are offering. You can't decide whether or not to attend school part-time until you know the salary/benefits being offered.

In most cases, I would say don't delay your education. If you're almost done, finish and then work full time. You never know what will happen with a position. They could downsize or eliminate positions and if you're working part-time there, it will still be on your resume and if they are really happy with you, I'm sure they could bring you on full time in another year.

I would only consider going to school part time if this is the job/company/industry you want to work in upon graduation and they are offering a competitive package (pay and benefits).

you have a few things to sacrifice. Love - probably will be non existent. Play - probably will be non existent. if you CAN sacrifice these, it is very plausible you can take the full time job and study part time. Living at home with someone who cooks meals for you helps too.
