Anyone successfully withdraw $ from Paypal to HSBC US-based account?

I am looking into opening both a Canadian-based HSBC USD account and a US-based HSBC chequing account so that I can accomplish the following:

1) withdraw USD from my Canadian-registered Paypal account without converting it, and
2) Transfer said balance from the US-based HSBC bank account to the Canadian-based USD bank account

So my questions are, has anyone successfully performed both 1 and 2?

Also, are there any fees involved when transferring from the US-based HSBC account to the CDN-based one?
