i dunno what is more funny, the scammer paying over $25,000 on shipping charges for complete junk or the scammer being sent pictures of the dead "employees" after they were "killed"

its just too bad that the stove got lost

Dangerous...

You can get nailed to the wall on mail fraud like that.

Sure hes fighting check fraud by using mail fraud - But that does not make it any less illegal to send junk by mail posing as finished goods. Its especially dangerous to send used powersupplies unless they are labelled as such - because you can be nailed by the transport company for not labelling it as a hazardous good (And used power supplies are dangerous, even new ones are dangerous.)

The guy has taken the vigilante route. Interesting to watch from the sidelines, but I would not want to be him.

Definitely. Not only that but the guy was playing with his own life. At the sign of the first threat, I would have been at the police station immediately regardless if the threat was real or not? Can YOU take the chance?

I also have some doubt that UPS went along with the whole scam. Umm, why weren't the police involved? Cheque fruad, mail fraud, AND threats? Of course, UPS was kept happy by the hundreds/thousands of dollars in shipping costs...

This reminds me of the Pppppowerbook scam.

Its not bad, kinda hurts your brain reading the scammers HORRIBLE english. The anus part is pretty funny though.

It might be better if all the links worked, some are dead, cause that post is from 2004.

I still like P-P-P-Power book better.

They rebait the guy again in early 2005 and late 2005. I think with all the money the scammer spent on freight, he could've just hired a hitman and really deaded that guy.

I definitely agree with the mail fraud component. But I wonder: Does a mail fraud victim have to press charges in order for the gov't to be able to convict or can the gov't charge without a victim stepping forward. I seriously doubt the scammer (in Nigeria) would step up and say "where are my laptops?".

Funny read, though.

Look into the legal concept of "Clean Hands". Basically it says that if you are in the process of committing a crime then you can't report being a victim as a result of that action without facing consequences. If you are making a drug deal and someone rips you off, can you report that theft to the police?:cheesygri You will probably get to lay a complaint, but you would have to make it from jail.

AFAIK, no law enforcement agency will ever investigate any complaint by a Nigerian scam artist in the situation like the Anus laptops. Nor would they act without a complaint. Funniest scambait ever, and I'm only up to Cole v2.

Besides, what self-respecting scammer would want to draw attention to himself by complaining to the law?

Great stuff. If you really want a laugh, read all of Cole V2.0. There's about 350 pages (I got to about 270, and that took a few days, it's not summarized in one post like for the original), but it's worth it.

I read Cole 1 and Cole 2 a long time ago and registered to read it all. I want to read Cole 3 so I decided to log in? It turns out they prune old accounts. Too lazy to make a new one. :3

I ended up running it through a proxy.
