Hello everyone,
Got a situation here, and I would appreciate some help, please! I am 22M.
A couple of years back I was pulled over with a G2 license, and an above zero alcohol level (0.05 to be exact... I wish I had G back then). The ticket was was 110$ in total, and I was let go at the spot. The court took place last October. No demerit points were issued and the ministry of transportation suspended my license for 30 day. Violation is stated on my abstract as "Violation of G2 license conditions", no mentioning of alcohol level or anything... The only other ticket I have on my record is "Fail to show insurance card", which is pretty minor.
Now, the news just reached my insurance company. I am a secondary driver on my car, and my dad is the primary. The company refuses to reinstate insurance after this period is over (which is mid July). I called around and it seems that the "Violation of G2 license conditions" is a major violation, and no regular insurance company will take the liability.
I am not sure where to look for the coverage. DriversFirst is the only place that I found, but their rate was around 500$ per month, which is very high. I understand that this is my fault, and we pay for our mistakes, but hopefully someone has been in a situation like this and can recommend me another broker with a more acceptable rate.
Thanks a lot for reading, and hope for some help!

No insurance card appears on an abstract as a violation, it might seem minor to you but it appears on an abstract.

Having your license suspended is tantamount to a death sentence it puts you immediately into "facilities" with pricing which is anywhere from a 50% to 100% premium above normal rates.

Insurance companies are aware that most young males spend some time in facilities. If your present agent is not interested to help you out, which would mean putting your father and you as the secondary driver in facilities. If your father is prepared to see his insurance premium double, triple, or even quadruple its doable.

500 a month for a "facilities" premium is not excessive.
