does not turn on. (press on the switch, nothing happen)

had similar problem before.

is there something simple i can replace diy?

like to fix it up and give to a friend to do internet surfing.

When a computer doesn't turn on. I think of two things occuring, the ps is dead or the MB is dead. Unless your overclocking, your cpu should not die(unless the heatsink fan died) and a computer will still turn on with a bad HD.

Other things that might prevent it from starting is if one of the cards in the case is not fastened into its slot tightly if it has been moved around lately.

Get a working ps from another computer, plug it in and see if it boots up. Not worth buying one if that not the problem, so just test if its the PS first.

I suspect is the power supply too.

With this cheaper dell, when the case does not closed properly it won't turn on.

May be i can pick up a cheap power supply on college street.
