Got the card earlier this year, but decided to finally replace the stock cooling...now i've never done this to a video card before so i'm hoping for some advise as to what to watch out for before i proceed with the change.
so here are some of the specs:
BFG 8800GT OC
Accelero S1 Rev.2
Antec Sonata III
any input is greatly appreciated.

you might want to first make sure that it will fit in your case, so you don't end up in my situation (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=577779)
make sure you have:
a) paste-cleaning solution (I use contact/tuner cleaning solution, works great)
b) solid workspace and a ground
c) higher quality thermal compound like arctic silver (optional)
other than that, its pretty easy, just follow the instructions. the ram heatsinks are kind of finicky and dont stick very well, but work well enough on mine.
it's too bad I don't have a picture of the card + accelero outside the case. oh well I was rushed lol

I would say that the pre-applied paste (MX-2) is already high quality paste if not better than AS.
Just make sure when you screw the screws on evenly.
Get some 99% alcohol is clean up the GPU.

While cleaning the GPU, also clean the tops of the rams to try to help the ramsinks stick better.

Passive cooling or did you also get the fans?
Those are some nice temperatures.

ya i got the fans, super quiet compared to the stock that came with the BFG...
mind you these temps i think are a bit high...however considering the ambiance temperature of my room which is probably near 28 or so because of my 37 inch lcd and 360, ps3 and all other electrical components.
so getting these kinds of temps, i can definitely live with it
