My grandfather has a Sympatico email account and he's currently using Outlook 2003 to recieve and read his emails. We've setup a hotmail account for him now (Sympatico has been one cluster eff after another). He's got A LOT of email that he wants to keep. What's the easiest way to transfer everything (email is organized into folders as well) from Outlook to Hotmail?

If he's reading Hotmail through a web browser, I can't think of an easy way other than to forward every email to Hotmail. That'd be tedious and I don't believe Hotmail has folders.
I would suggest using Outlook Express and set it up to access Hotmail. Becareful of one setting that deletes email from Hotmail once it is downloaded locally. I believe this is on by default. I prefer to leave a copy on Hotmail in case the computer dies or suffers data lost.
Once Hotmail is set up in OE, you can either configure Hotmail for Sympatico as well and then you should be able to drag and drop emails over. Or you could export to PST from Outlook 2003 and I'm pretty sure you can import it into OE.

Mind you tho this OE+Hotmail service will be terminated by the end of June 2008. It will be replaced by Microsoft Windows Live Email email client.
As a valued customer, we want to provide advanced notice that as of June 30, 2008, Microsoft is disabling the DAV protocol and you will no longer be able to access your Hotmail Inbox via Outlook Express. As an alternative, we recommend that you download Windows Live Mail, a free desktop e-mail client that has the familiarity of Outlook Express and much more. This next generation of free e-mail software will allow you to easily manage multiple e-mail accounts—including Windows Live Hotmail, plus other e-mail accounts that support POP3/IMAP. Better yet, Windows Live Mail integrates well with other Windows Live services, and downloads in minutes. After you provide your user name and password, you will automatically be linked to your Hotmail account, providing continued access to your email and contacts.
We encourage you to download Windows Live Mail at http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview.
