I'm sure there are plenty of developers on these forums, such as myself, but really, we do it for a living, I have absolutely no drive to develop on my own time.
So the question you really should pose is, any amateur developers out there?

I wonder if that same logic would apply to having a stripper/hooker as a girlfriend. Sorry, I got side tracked there.

i do that at work.
writing Objective-C is brutal. using a Mac is brutal. and the last 2 beta SDK releases had complete revisions of some APIs, thus breaking much code.

Would you really want the girl in your avatar as a girlfriend?

There's a lot of sys admin folks (or other technical peeps), who do nothing all day at work. Some of them keep busy by working on open source software.
Also, if a developer has a need for a particular software, they can always work on it during the weekend. Most of the developers I know have side projects (whether it be development work or something else).

Question for the more technical savvy than I:
Are programmers and developers one and the same?

If I want to develop simple apps, just as a hobby, how experienced would I need to be to get started w/ say, windows mobile, iphone, android etc. I know they're all very different, but I'm not a CS major so that's a problem. I have taken some simple C courses both those deal with microprocessors and computer hardware as opposed to software engineering.
