I went to go get an oil change at the new Sherwood Honda in Sherwood Park (5 minutes East of Edmonton), Alberta.

If you come in for service until the end of June they'll give you a free Sherwood Honda Platinum Membership Card. The card entitles you to have the current cost of an oil & filter change (parts and labour) deducted from the cost of you service invoice upon presentation of the card for 5 years or 100,000 km.

The only stipulation is that all scheduled maintenance (as per your owners manual) must be performed by Sherwood Honda.

So my first service was a Type 1 service which is a oil & filter change. The service was free, didn't pay anything and they washed the car.

I guess they want to get you as a long term service customer.

Wow...that's SUPER COLD!! giving you $15 worth of stuff and charge u big bucks when you bring ur car in for maintenance...

assuming u drive 16,000 km a year...you gonna get $10 worth of oil and filter and another $5 worth of labour (which they charge like $50 for something that worth only $15)...and then when it comes to maintenance, they gonna charge u $500 to $1000 for doing literally nothing for your car..."maintenance" is just a fancy name for them to look at your car and INVENT new terms to throw at you and expect you to pay BIG bucks for it...

How do I know they aren't doing anything I paid them for? well...for one thing...my cabin filter is supposed to be changed EVERY 16,000 km...it is now 84,000...AND I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL FILTER that came with my CAR! I paid $100 for it EACH time!! cost of a cabin filter? $20 to $30...

My tires NEVER get rotated!! i am suspecting that my air filter is also ORIGINAL...

I agree. They are a new dealership and like all other they are preying on gullible people.

Even if I never go back for anything else. I still got this first oil change for free.

u said "The only stipulation is that all scheduled maintenance (as per your owners manual) must be performed by Sherwood Honda."

that usually means that if you don't bring ur vehicle there...They WILL decline ur warranty if you ever need any work done under warranty...

dealerships can't just "decline your warranty" if you don't get your car serviced there.

They cannot do that.

But they will stop giving you free oil changes.

A Toyota dealer in Calgary is doing the same. They want to install a $30 pollen filter for $90 as part of the "scheduled maintenance".

Don't fall for it.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking... but... I think an oil change is something like 21.95 at Wal Mart which is the cheapest you can get if I'm not mistaken.
