I actually just bought the Lexmark E120n networking printer during the BB Customer Appreciation sale for $71.99. Used an old Logitech PlayLink to give it wireless capabilities, and I'm loving it! The starter toner only has a 500-pg yield, but I bought a new toner for $65~ or so.

Lasers are often cheaper than toner. And just wait until you have to replace the drum! Some lasers include drums within their toner cartridges, but not Brother. That actually makes Brother cartridges less expensive.
The toner that comes with a new Laser printer is often a "starter" cartridge. It has less toner in it than the replacement toner cartridges. You should be able to find out this detail in the fine print.
Refilling cartridges is cheaper still but I haven't had the guts to try it.

You should do it, because the problem when refilling is your not changing the drum, if the drum is not integrated like in brother then it's pretty much the same.

Yeah I replaced a HL-1435 with this one.. The toner for it was 60 bucks but I'd have to put forth effort in finding it...and I needed it a week ago! :/ 15 bucks extra for a smaller faster printer I went for it. :D

thanks OP, but I think the HL2030 (for $30 after MIR) was much hotter http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=568939

Try these guys. (http://www.tonerkits.com/) I have bought from them twice and they were very fast, cheap, and the toner worked fine. They also give you custom illustrated instructions for your particular cartridge.
Edit. I notice that they don't carry a toner kit for this particular model however.

I bought the 2170 at Office Depot in Bellingham, WA for $99USD. They price matched Costco but their regular price on this model is only $150 or so. The wireless option is great to have so if you've got the access to the US stores, have a look before you decide to buy the 2140 as they both use the same toner cartridges (TN-330 and TN-360).

I second the recommendation to buy toner refills online through tonerkits (http://www.tonerkits.com/) if they carry toner refills for your model of laser printer. I've ordered through them several times and been quite happy. The savings are amazing.

fwiw, samsung has super easy toner carts to refill. they are even thoughtful enough to provide a hole and a plug to use.

Toner (Brother brand) only costs $40 at ncix, so it's not smart to buy this printer in lieu of toner. But if you're actually looking for a printer, that's a nice price. I have the HL-2070N and it's very good.

Hey guys,
Went to Staples to get an entry-level laser printer and they had this Brother HL-2140 for $50 off.

Set it up in about 10 minutes and good to go. It prints really quickly and the quality is great, even on toner saver mode.
I don't think you can go wrong with a Brother laser printer for $80. They also had 500 packs of Staples printer paper for $3.95.
I should mention that it doesn't come with the USB cable but I had a few lying around.

I'm tired of paying $80 for HP inkjet ink. I'm debating between this brother HL-2140 and the Samsung ML-1640. Both have great reviews and stats.
I like the fact that the Brother has a 'load and hide' papery tray that stores the paper. I think that feature makes the whole printer unit a bit larger, but i find the open paper tray with exposed paper to be a bit unsightly.
Does anyone know of good deals right now on the Brother HL-2140 ?
Or any reason i shouldn't purchase it?
