ive recently moved and i REALLY need pots/pans but need REALLY GOOD QUALITY. i missed out on the TFAL jamie oliver but would consider this is the response is positive. this set would probably get my vote if it has hard anodized...

Because.. you know.. REALLY GOOD QUALITY pots/pans make you a REALLY GOOD COOK..
My dad has been a chef his whole life. Never used anything fancy in terms of pots/pans. I can assure you his cooking is top notch.
Get something reasonable, but don't go overboard, or you'll look like the person that has more money than brains and spends $100K on a BMW M3 but can't shift gears or make a right turn without hitting a curb to save their life.

do you know for a fact though that your dad is not using anything fancy? i'm not implying it's fancy cookware that makes his cooking top notch. i'm just saying, good quality cookware is a good investment because it lasts a lifetime. if your dad hasn't changed his cookware in the longest time, chances are, they were some good quality cookware. even if you don't think they're fancy, but i guess it depends how knowledgeable you are in pots and pans.

A lot of it is just run of the mill type of stuff.
Standard stainless steel wok, random frying pan, etc.
I'm not saying it isn't a good investment, I'm just saying that having the best cookware money can buy won't make your food taste any better at all.
Better off buying some cheaper stuff and taking a night course in cooking!

quality cookware might not make your cooking any better, but it makes it a whole lot easier!!

It looks like these pans aren't of the cladded variety. they just have an aluminum base. If you want "REALLY GOOD QUALITY" then I suggest looking for something like the Kenmore Elite sale from a few months back.
I don't agree with the poster that said pots and pans quality makes no difference. It depends on the type of cooking you do, your skill level, etc. I think it's absolutely worth spending money on quality pans.

Lol. standard stainless steel wok? random frying pan? really expensive brands make woks and frying pans that are stainless steel and can look standard or random. afterall a wok is going to be shaped like a wok right? and a frying pan, well obviously it's gotta resemble a frying pan.
maybe you dad doesn't have a complete set. but rather quality pieces from various brands based on his cooking experience and knowledge of various cookware manufacturers.
i'm just saying your dad may be using some quality cookware. you don't know for sure. appearance doesn't tell much.
I agree, you don't need to have the absolute best and most expensive cookware either. you just need something solid, something that you're comfortable working with, and well built.
quite frankly, $199 is not a high price tag for a cookware set, if it's a quality one that can last a lifetime. even $500-600 is okay. that said, I've not used or read about the above, so I can't comment on how good it is.
