I recently bought an AMD X2 5000+ Black Edition and want to OC it. It's kinda hard to do it in the BIOS. The system crashes after some point and I have to clear the CMOS every time and redo the settings. So what software would you guys recommend for overclocking and CPU temp. monitoring?

don't use software to overclock.
Use the bios, orthos to test, and I am not sure what your supposed to use to measure temp on an AMD (I use coretemp - not sure of AMD compatibility)

+1, software is def. not the most reliable and stable way to go when OC'ing. you should always do it through the BIOS.

So basically, it's just trial and error, right? The system crashes, and then I should reset the BIOS, re-do the settings and try lower values, right?
So just to make sure I'm doing it right: in order to overclock, I should change the CPU frequency (multiplier), voltage, and Ram's voltage. Are there any other parameters that I should adjust?

If you invest 2 hours of reading articles title "introduction to overclocking" or "overclocking guide for mobo xxxxx" then you will save time (and possibly money) when overclocking in the bios.
Also try to find people with similiar setups and see what their results are.
As for other parameters there can be lots. On my board there are about 8 settings I have to always remember to change (cpu fan control, temperature controls, pci-e voltage etc) as well as the other core overcloking seetings like voltages, etc.

Software to overclock is BIOS;) and temperature use latest version of coretemp and your set to go.
