So I was in Canadian Tire yesterday, getting a few things I needed. So I got the auto department and saw one of my buddies. He works at parts. So we start talking, kinda catching up on things. Anyways we go into the topic of e-tests and I told about the situation with my aunts car and how there it wouldn't pass, but when I went to the random independant shop that I found driving around one day, it passed right away. He informs me that all the mechanics that wokr in the shop are not qualified to do an e-test, and if it was one of those mechanics then it explains why the car failed.
I got kinda pissed, I'm like well I've spent more money then needed. Plus since I didn't have reciepts for the work done on the car, I had to pay full price.
So I called up Drive Clean and filled a complaint saying that some of the guys don't know what they are doing and this needs to be brought to their attention and that it was told to me by one of the guys thats works in the auto department.
Anyways I was able to confirm from Drive Clean that you do have to show proof that you have have done work on the car in order to only pay the technician fee, and that this was a rule ever since the program was launched. I told them well this is the first time I am hearing about this and according to Drive Clean they say that a lot of mechanics do not ask cause they are real mechanics and see if work has been done to the car. So Drive Clean will doing an investigation to find out whats going on and if they are operationing the way they should.
Just to my luck this lady was complaining to the general manager the same time I was at the store about the auto service and how they ripped her off. She went for an oil change and they told her she needed new brakes and that she had a flat tire, which was false, she paid for the new tire which they did not provide and gave her a flat plus they took her donut tire.
Just thought I'd share with all you fellow RFD members.
