I've decided I need to get back into real exercise, after being out of it for years. I bought a new pair of shoes and have been out walking (relatively brisk) for the last week for at least an hour a day.

I do plan on going to the gym, but I want to get some endurance and tone/some minor bulk prior to going. I'm looking at 1-2 months prior to going to the gym.

I have always been a slim/skinny guy my entire life. I'm about 5'10'' 145 or so. I just don't gain weight, I eat like crap, used to drink beer like a fish, nothin...

Anyway...

I plan to start light jog with walking this week-end to step it up a bit. I want to however add weights at home. I figured that maybe a floor mat and some free weights (plus pushups/situps) would suffice for a month or two prior to starting at the gym.

Any recommendations on what/where to get weight wise? I'd prefer South Etobicoke area, but whatever...

Thanks

Try looking on Craigslist. You can usually find a lot of people who are selling free weight sets for significantly less than what you would pay for at a store. If you refuse to buy second hand and want a new set, try Wal-Mart or Fitness Source.

Fitness Depot actually had weights that are pretty well priced. Something like 60cents/pound for plates. Also their dumbells are priced around the same price. I'll probably be picking up 200lbs or so of dumbells from them shortly after I move into my new place. -sg
