I'm thinking of buying an electric griddle, mostly because I need a larger surface to make my pancakes, but I'm wondering if it's worth the money. What else can you cook on a griddle, other than pancakes, eggs, random breakfast food? Should I bother investing in one? Also, any recommendations for a good (but cheap) model? Opinions welcome! :)

MEAT MEAT MEAT MEAT MEAT MEAT.
Like you said breakfast items such as bacon hashbrown.
You can also cook crepes, pizza and some vegetables.

You can cook fish fillets, burgers, steak, chicken drumsticks, chicken fillet, etc..

Example of how to cook a fish fillet.

1. Buy Samlon Fish Fillet
2. Garnish Fish with Pepper, Salt and other spices you prefer.
3. Spread extra virgin olive oil on top surface of Salmon fillet.
4. Cook fillet skin side down on grill for 10 mins on Medium Heat.
5. Flip Salmon and cook 7-8 more mins.
6. Eat Tasty Fish!

Definitely worth the investment. I use my Cuisinart electric grill all the time :) I recommend that one because its cooking surface has 2 sides, it is relatively large and very easy to clean. If you shop around, you can buy that model for $100-110.

Happy cooking!

I have a griddle that fits on my stove top. It fits over two elements. I use it for almost anything that I would use a frying pan for, meat, fish, vegetables, bacon and eggs etc. Mine has a smooth top and a ridged surface on the reverse side. I got it at the Bay I think. In the winter I can get those grill marks without stoking up the BBQ.

its easy to get grill marks without the bbq, but its a little harder to match the taste ;)

as mentioned, griddles are great for lots of different meats.. fish, chops, steaks, anything you would cook in a frying pan, but with lots more room.
