View Full Version : Bread machine return or replacement? Canadian tire, cuisinart

I bought a bread machine, the cbk 200, from a canadian tire a while ago, and it never worked. Not getting into why, it is clearly defective and unusable. I just didn't have time to return it, though, and I'm only getting around to it now, and I don't have the receipt anymore.

I guess my chances of getting canadian tire to take it back are zero? I don't have the box or the spare parts for it anymore.

What do you think my best option for suffering a minimum loss here? I paid $150 for the thing, it's still under warranty, but I never registered it (I assume I could register it at any time, though.)

Do you think I have to pay for shipping to get cuisinart to repair or replace it? I'd just sell it used anyway, and they only go for about $40.

So frustrating. I never even used the thing! I really can't afford to have this sort of thing happen.....

Even if you have your invoice number, it will be hard to return because without a box and all accessories, it will be impossible for CT to resale. I believe CT's return policy requires the box + all accessory. Also i don't think you can get warranty service for it because most companies require the box (its a stupid policy but its what most company use).

Reselling it would also be bad because whoever buys it would be stuck with something that does not work (unless someone wants to buy this to repair it).

Pretty much the only thing you can do is eat the loss as a result of being unorganized/too busy to take care of it. If you paid via CC, you can try to find all the accessory and get your invoice number to return it (won't be easy tho because you don't have the box).

SO, you never used it, it never worked, and you lost or threw out everything it was packed with, and don't have the receipt, HAHA sounds like a scam to me!

If it isn't, sorry, eat the loss an move on!

Unfortunatly I think you are going to have to eat this as Canadian Tire is not the easiest company to deal with on returns at the best of time and this is not the best of times.

Just learn from your mistake, and don't throw out boxes and accessories.

Try making some bread in the store with it to prove your point.

How long ago is 'a while ago'?

If you never used it, how do you know it is defective? Through your ability to psychically read its mind?

If you can't really afford to 'have this sort of thing happen', you should have made the time to return it and kept the packaging, etc. You have lost any and all ability to return this item. Sorry.

Contact Cuisinart and say you received the breadmaker as a gift - hence no receipt.

although the first post by user with ID "ksdjghldkfj" i.e. 'throw away user id' doesn't inspire great confidence in the integrity of this question, you can always purchase a new one in box, intending to keep it of course, then return the defective one in the box.

You don't get your money back, but get a new working unit at least.

How does the OP have zero posts?

Is the first post so crappy it doesn't count as a post?
