Saturday night I ordered Samsung SyncMaster 906BW LCD Monitor, 19" $199.95 http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=,14477&webid=675528&affixedcode=WW. with a $20 off $150 coupon, the price was $179.95. I got the order confirmation number.

But Sunday a staples customer service representative emailed that they couldn't deliver and he canceled the order.

Is it normal for Staples to cancel a confirmed order? Can I ask staples to delover? How can I nogotiate with CSR?

Thanks.

There are many Staples threads and Mahjongmaniac can explain it better. You may have purchased Phantom Stock. There's also a chance Staples outright refuses to sell or your coupons have been used before (no likely scenario).

You can always phone and request a reason, or ask if you can order a comparable LCD.

Called CSR at Staples. The CSR told me to try again in 2 weeks. She didn't offer any help. disappointed.

Seems like these occurrences happen more often at Staples nowadays.

This happens all the time....
In my case, I only get phone calls no emails.
They just say they don't have stock, and they hang up....:(

The last 3 orders I've made from staples.ca have all been out of stock (but showed stock on the website, verified and charged my visa). A couple days later in each case, they cancelled the order with a phone call. Waiting around all day for something that isn't coming sucks.

I wrote them some hate mail about the situation, and never heard back from them.

On sat nights (every week), Staples online will be screwed up. Items that aren't in stock will be shown as if they were in stock. Anyone who visits this forum regularly probably knows that by now. Its not uncommon so just remember to never buy anything on staples online during sat nights. Wait till Sunday because it will still be shipped on Tuesday regardless of you ordering on Sat or Sun.

The three orders I mentioned above were placed on a Monday morning, a Tuesday morning, and a Thursday afternoon. This isn't the phantom stock thing. (however the OP clearly ordered on a Sat evening)

This is why it is called stOOpleS.

This is the kid of shoddy online service that has led me to never buy anything at Staples.ca anymore unless it is some obvious extreme deal or price error. For everyday items I just don't bother cause their system is too shoddy and unreliable.

I noticed the item you were purchasing. Isn't $180 a bit much for a 19" LCD? I just sold one for $100 a few weeks ago. And they are going for around $100-$120 used on the forums (not much difference in quality/features considering the price difference).

Probably because Staples thought the deal was too good and decided to not sell the item to you (aka price error). Or the people preparing your order saw the price, and hid the item(s) so they can pick it up at the end of the month.

I had that happen to me before, to make things worst, they sent me the buffer pens i used (to get the price over $50) but not the USB that i wanted.:| At least i wasn't charged shipping or i would be all over the CSR.

Maybe that's why they canceled your last three orders. :D

Would reporting Staples to the BBB force them to review their system?
I got screwed too, and I ordered on Wednesday night...

Yes, very normal.

No, it's been happening since the early days. Clearly you have not shopped at Staples that often.
