Just to let you know - Buyer Beward at Swiss Chalet on Burnhamthorpe and Central Parkway in Mississauga.
I went for a dinner with my father and total meal came to about $27 after tip. I cheap tipped them about 13% because of the bad service. Low and behold my credit card shows a $37 charge.
Called my credit card company. Got the charge reversed and took away the entire tip. And there was no way this was a misread as I had the receipt with me, it was clearly a 2. And I even wrote the tip amount in the addition portion. They must have politely added a 1 in front of the tip amount to make it an additional 10 bucks and then charge me thinking I wouldn't notice.

Yeah... it could happen anywhere. Theres always gonna be a rogue employee that tries to rip people off. Do you remember the server? Maybe you should bring it to the attention of the restaurant manager @ that location.
If you still have the receipt, sometimes theres a "server #" or name on it.

Your story is much better than that redflagger whining about $1 and was recalling from memory. They took $10 and you have the receipt to confirm. Glad it worked out for you with your cc company!

Sorry about your experience. I've never had that problem at this location.

You should leave no room for addition numbers of credit card receipts. Either put a $ sign next to the first digit or draw a line~4.oo as an example. And keep the receipts.

I wouldn't even tip 13% if they provided service to begin with

Well I barely left any space... I guess its easy to slip a 1 in front of the tip amount and then change the 2 to a 3... I always put the $ sign and everything in front.. I guess if someone wants to fraud you they always can
Too bad because I do like that swiss chalet its close to my home and food is good..
I guess always look over your credit card statements closely... Otherwise i would have went back to the swiss chalet but it was a while afterwards.. I noticed once my statement came.. I was looking at my statment but luckily my receipt was with me.. actually on my table while looking at my statement.. which is y i noticed the problem right away... I just hope I havn't been screwed over before..lol

Don't their receipts have a line where you can add the total of the bill or did you just leave it blank? I always total the tip and meal amount. I'm surprised you left such a big tip. I always find the service at Swiss Chalets lacking.

I was just at this Swiss Chalet last week. I'm going to check my statement online just to make sure...

i think this should be aimed more at your server than at the restaurant itself.
i am glad you were checking and did not pay the extra.
tipping has gone so far to the extreme and is no longer about service, which it should be.

Watch when you pay with debit as well. I was getting takeout at swiss chalet and the cashier was entering a $4 tip on the pad and then she clicked on ok on the amount before giving it to the customer. She did this to 3 people when I was waiting for my order.
