Any tips and precautions for buying iPods on the net?

Also, can you guys recommend me some good eBay stores, e-stores or brick and mortar stores that sell iPods for cheap? (I'm looking for an 80GB iPod)

thanks.

make sure you ask if they have been reconditioned
unless thats what you are looking for

ive noticed alot of sellers hide this in small font in their listing

You'll need to do a lot of research. Why not google "eBay safety" or "safe eBay buying help" etc.?

Or, you could just go to Costco and buy new. Prices are reasonable, and you get an easy 90-day no-hassle return period. Equally important, new iPods come with a one-year warranty from Apple, which you won't get, generally, buying from eBay or private sellers.

Or... use the redflagdeals b/s/t forums. There are some great deals to be had there.

I would guess that the original concern applies there, too. Offers of iPod Touch 32GB *BNIB* for $400 sound almost too good to be true. I almost bought one off the BST but ran into cash woes, though I'm still tempted to bite on said offer. That is, of course, unless someone can reveal a caveat that some RFD'ers are yet to be aware of.

I personally would avoid ebay for buying ipods. I think it's safer to look for a deal on RFD and meet up with someone than to have your $$ in jeopardy while the shipping is in progress. (Paypal protection sucks)
