As a devout coffee drinker, (cream and sugar [Splenda] please), I go through a 1L Half-and-half about every 8 or 9 days. Imagine my sticker shock when I went to my usual cheap sources, RCSS and Walmart, and found it almost 3 dollars for the 1 Litre size. WTF?? It's usually under $2 at both of those stores. Anyone got any news of why the massive price jump? I'm headed to Costco for some other stuff tomorrow, and that'll be my benchmark. If the price has jumped huge there too, there's something the .gov isn't telling us. I've NEVER seen a staple jump that much in a short term in all of my 32 years on planet earth. I don't get it...:|

This was across a few brands here in the Vancouver area. The big Dairyland/Saputo brand usually has a bit of a premium on it, but yesterday it was about the same price as the stores' house brands, like Lucerne at Safeway, all of them inflated at least 40-50%.
The prices I usually see are about $1.70 or so at RCSS, Walmart and Costco, and about $2.50 at the non-deal grocers like Safeway, IGA and Save-On/Price Smart. Yesterday at Walmart I paid $2.51 for a 500ml. There's something very wrong here.

these inflations are caused by the rapid rise of gas price! Yes, it is very wrong...but what can we do with the insane gas price?

everything's gone up in price in regards to food lately. especially with wheat, grains and such. I'm not suprised that it affected the cost of milk too. And not to mention the prices with gas and stuff.
it's all inter-correlated.

Hmm, well it seems that Costco was unaffected, as was Safeway. Both had their usual prices of $1.50ish and $2.50ish respectively. Bought 2 quarts at Costco since it was dated May 9. I'm aware that it's quite disturbing to consume that much half-and-half, but I drink at least a pot of coffee per day by myself, so it gets used.. alot!

Wow, you guys were paying 1.70 for a litre of cream?
I haven't seen that price in the GTA except when they run a sale on it.
It usually hovers around the 2.99 mark in the GTA. If I see it at 2.50 or below I buy 5 at once. (A lot of coffee drinkers in the house)
I never seem to have problems with it going bad before it gets used.
Lately the prices have been hovering at 3.10

Blame biofuels, everything is affected by this move sadly.
