I've been eyeing this BBQ for a while hoping it might go on sale soon, and it has! Both the NG and LP are now $50 off (299 and 249)

This is a great BBQ for this price as it is essentially the same as more expensive Broil Kings which are made by the same company.

I have the same BBQ but the Broil King version. It's great! I think the burners are a better design on the Broil King, but by the picture, it seems essentially the same on the outside. Meat can be slightly sticky the first time or two until you "grease in" the cast iron grill surfaces.

I have the NG BBQ from HD and love it! I don't have any need for side burners or rotisserie, so this is perfect for me. I was able to use it throughout the winter and it always put out plenty of heat.

I don't really want to spend the extra $ for a rotisserie or side burner either since I know I won't use them.. so this bbq looks to be perfect!

My only concern is how durable the porcelain coated cast iron grill is. How is yours holding up?

They're great. When I clean them (not very often) they look brand new again. Very well built and I'd also suggest to everyone that you put it together yourself or get a friend/family member to help if necessary. Don't trust the people at the store to do a good job and test it properly for leaks once assembled.

I think I'll pick mine up tonight.. I hope they have them in stock.

Good suggestion about assebling it yourself.

Is this an older model because I can't seem to find it on the Broil Mate website. The closest match seems to be the 19555 (http://www.broilkingbbq.com/broil-mate/product.asp?PID=159) but unsure of what the differences are.

Is this made in China? Does anyone know if they have models with side burner on sale?

Thanks

I put together a Sterling alone and it was easy to assemble. Made by the same group OMC (omcbbq.com) as Broil-King and Broil-mate.
The body w/burners, insturments were pre-built. I really only assembled the stand and put the body on to it. I think they call it Reddi-built or something.

Is this made in China? Does anyone know if they have models with side burner on sale?

Thanks

I think I may go get this tomorrow. I was going to buy a more expensive Webber or Napoleon but I know Broil King / Mate is going to last 8-10 years and so long as it's still made in Canada, I think I will do fine with this.

Great deal!

Hi All,

I was at the home depot checking out BBQ yesterday when I noticed the Broil-Mates were on sale. I picked up the model that is on for $249.

I was also considering getting the Weber E310 for ~$400 in the US (it's $549 at Home Depot). I'm glad I got this instead. The Weber is made in China the Broil-mate in Canada. I'm a engineer, I inspected the BBQ builds and was very impressed with the Broil-Mate's Build. I was also very impressed with how easy it went together. (I've put quite a few cheep BBQ together). A 11mm wrench will help!

This model has the top 'Bun' grill.

PS. I really like the heavy porcilin coated grills that came with this model.

Can't wait to fire it up tonight. Too bad I got the last one in Van!

Cheers

Is this a really good deal ? I'm ready to buy a new bbq and dont know how good of a deal this is, since its only 50.00 off.

Looks like a solid bbq, good brand and affordable price. Is it the best bang for the buck out there ?

Big quality difference; Chinese produced versus Canadian produced. Tons of research has encouraged me to buy a Napoleon, Weber or Broil King (Broil Mate) only. Not even Vermont Castings is safe anymore, especially now that they're bankrupt! ;)

These are great bbq's for the price. As far as this deal goes, $50 off seems to be the common sale price as I've seen them off and on sale all the time at this price.

Just picked one up this afternoon. They were sold out of propane so I got one of the last 4 NG models. Must be a sign I need to get a gas connection this summer. I was thinking about doing it anyway.

So happy though, I was considering going high end with a Napoleon but with the savings I can get the NG hook up and still have lots of cash left over for some patio chairs instead. Broil Mate on display was solid, these BBQs are very nice quality.

Very good deal. Almost identical Broil King goes for $349 locally so it's $100 less. I have been shopping around for a few weeks.

Hopefully you can still get one, I thought the sale was over the 20th but I could be wrong (someone else said that). The flyer seemed to be good for a while longer.

Yea, I think the sale was supposed to be over on Sunday, but who knows, you may be able to convince them to sell you on at the sale price. If not, it's still good value at the regular price IMO.

I was lucky enough to snag the last NG model at the West Ottawa store. I couldn't fit the box in my car, so I packed the bbq parts without the box instead.

Now I just need a hookup!

Just finished putting mine together, man that was easy. Less than 1 hour. The BBQ looks so sharp, the neighbor was shocked how cheap it was for a Made in Canada quality grill.

Just called a few places and I should have the NG hook up for the weekend. Awesome!

Sale was until today.

I got the last one in Halifax.. box was a bit dented, but the HD guy opened it for me and it looked ok. Hope it really is OK. :)

Picked up the propane version on Saturday. This model seems different than any of the ones on the Broil Mate website. For one, the side shelves do NOT fold down. I am not sure if there are any other differences. Maybe this is a Home Depot specific model? Still, good deal. Thanks OP!

First to the poster above, the side fold down on mine $250 model. You remove the plastic clip then lift the shelf up 3/4" and it drops down, presto!

Also, maybe for the next sale. This BBQ brother the Broil-King Crown 70 (looks identical to the Broil-Mate) get awesome review here:

Oh really? My bad. I played with the one on display and for the life of me, I couldn't get the side shelves to fold down. I bought it regardless but haven't assembled it yet. Good to know!

Odd, the system says there are 11 left. I have a boxed one on hold for the sale price. I was actually in the Dartmouth store and they called over to Halifax for me. The sales lady actually rang the BBQ in to confirm the price, sale appears to still be on. There is nothing in the flier that suggests the sale ending on the 20th, at least nothing I can find.

They could have been in the back or elsewhere, there was only 1 on the shelf. I think the guys name at the Store was Steve. I as well went to Dartmouth first, and there saw 14 listed for Halifax in the Computer. I just assume inventory sucked, like Canadian Tire.. haha

The flyer date was until the 21st, I just assumed the sale was until then.

Where's the best local place to get a new Propane tank? :)

Mine folds down. It's a bit tricky the first time but it works perfect, it's a great feature for winter storage!
