what do you guys think....

quad core
dual 320hd's
3gigs ram
memcard reader and firewire
dvd writer
vista
dedicated 512 geforce 8500gt (I know the reviews are crap but its still alot better than integrated......right?)
22" HP monitor

Ive been looking awhile and to me it seems good. I like the dual HD's for keeping OS on one and data on other. or to possibly run the HD's in a raid config.

Anybody know of a better deal out now?

Thanks.

320 gigs is way too much to designate for the operating system alone.

This looks warm to me. Hard for me to say though cuz I recently jumped on the US deal (quad +24" monitor for $600) which was damned hot.

also, if you aren't in a hurry, wait a few days/weeks. The q6700 and q6600 will both drop in price effective april22.

It's a good desktop. If you want to save more money then buy from RFDer troublesome: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574682

I just traded for his LCD this Wednesday and he's legit. We exchanged & confirmed contact info beforehand, then negotiated a price. When I arrived he allowed me to test everything before paying. March turned out to be Crazy Scammer Month so I was extra careful, troublesome provided all the info upfront so I'm happy with my purchase. Now go & buy

Remember >--> check BST feedback or browse RFD's Scammers & Warnings, always confirm your seller/buyer's contact info & references.

Does any know if HP computers allow you to add an addition video card for Tri-monitor setup?

You can partition one of the drives if you think it is too much. But dual 320s will let the user ruin raid right from the get go. Backup or striping fun.

US deal:

Quad Core Dell Inspiron 530 with Q6600 + 24" E248WFP for ~$612
(http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/topic.php?catid=18&threadid=821957&highlight_key=y&keyword1=q6600)

EDIT: yeah it's a US deal and that sux but for these kind of savings my uncle in the states deserves a long awaited visit.

Not a bad price, warm at best.

Good luck trying to get Windows XP drivers for all the hardware in that system though. Most OEM's are putting TV Tuner cards and onboard sound that ONLY have Windows Vista drivers.

I have a Quad system from Gateway, and I will probably die before I find all the drivers for putting XP on it.

I also purchased a new 17" HP lappy, and there are pretty much no drivers listed on the HP website for Windows XP...

MS is making damn sure that OEM's are not making XP drivers available for newer systems.

Won't work in Canada, and although CAN prices are declining steadily, Canadians never receive those deep discount coupons. At best, the latest Dell Canada's Quad core was $549 for desktop, then add $190 for 19" or $289 for 22".

Dell's $329 SP2208WFP 22" LCD is comparable to HP's 2207H = HDMI, quality, inputs, so it's very difficult to track down a $600 Quad desktop with HP 2207H LCD. Now if you purchase a Dell Dual Core $499 and add $120 upgrade to SP2208WFP then that's Dell's best pricing since January. Steady price decrease during these 4 months but not close to Dell USA deals.

Quad + HDMI input 22" LCD hasn't arrived in Canada for $612+TAX. Maybe this summer but not now.

Most OEM's are putting TV Tuner cards and onboard sound that ONLY have Windows Vista drivers.

True - only Dell & HP are making any effort in providing XP drivers for desktops. Inspiron 530 line is only receiving XP drivers due to overwhelming demand because customers wanted more compatibility in Vista Basic. To ensure everything runs smoothly in XP, you have to search forums for workarounds. It's completely possible and even better in some cases to run Linux.

Best buy is selling a similar HP package for $1199.99.

Basically the same, except for a better processor Q6700 and 1 GB storage (2x 500 GB Hard Drives). Same video card and 22" monitor.

I don't know how much better the Q6700 is but the Q6600 can be overclocked from 2.4ghz to 3.0 ghz with minimal effort. The Q6600 is oh so very popular and I think it's for this very reason

In the bios, I would suggest you to read about overclocking before making any changes as the system can be unstable with a bad overclock (data loss, blue screens, lockups, etc). Note that, some CPUs have better results than others, it really depends! Some models are known to be more successful, such as the Q6600 mentioned above.
