Just wondering if anybody has any experience with ductless a/c? What brand are you using and have you had any problems with it? I am looking at the mitsubishi as well as the fujitsu brands. Also wondering how many units you have inside your house and the approx size of the house?
Thanks,
JS

Mitz and Fujitsu are the best ductless split a/cs made. They are also how most of the world outside North America cool their homes. However, you have to know what you're doing in regards to location, number of units, and other design considerations. Give Air Treatment and Air Xperts a call. They are experts in ductless a/cs.

We have a Mitsubishi Mr. Slim and have never had a problem with it. Only the one unit so far. Our house is a 4 level split with cathedral/open ceiling over the livingroom/diningroom/kitchen, it cools all of that and the next smaller level down where the familyroom is. It probalbly wouldn't work as well if we had regular height ceilings with walls up to them. I'll get another eventually for the upstairs bedrooms where I'm currently using two of those portable a/c's that roll up to the window with the ugly dryer like vents.

Do try a few houses first. Our neighbours have the Mr. Slim, another set of neighbours have an italian brand...in all semi's around here, they are put in the hall above the stairs to the upper floors (near where we put a relatively small window AC). In the end, our house is actually cooler (though the unit is a bit more unsightly....
Is it because we shut the door to the basement? Have darker blinds, newer windows, shut the bathroom door always...who knows....but we're not complaining...
...anyway the key is that for the entire house, you'll not be as cool as with the large duct systems...

Cooling is cooling. It doesn't matter if it is done by a ducted system or ductless. If the unit is sized and located properly it will keep the house and occupants comfortable.
