I haven't found anything posted on this yet so hoping for some good recommendations. Besides Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Rona etc. Where would a good place be to find good deals on plants, flowers, grass seed etc.? Is a nursery like sheridan my best bet? I am in Toronto.

For best selection, harder to find plants and higher prices naturally a nursery like Sheridan and the others. Doesn't mean their quality is any better since even the plants you'll find at Zellers, Loblaws etc appearing in the next few weeks all come from nurseries as well.

I find that sheridan are better quality...from root systems to general care of the plants...of course, their selection is far better....but for the average gardener, HomeDepot/Loblaws will be fine.

Terra in Milton, trafalger and britannia, great selection, quality and good prices, great sales, it is worth the drive depending how much stuff you buy.

I have used many and I like Terra the best-the toronto suppliers charge accordingly.

I don't know what's in your are for nurseries, but I'd like to comment on people's perceptions that heading to a box store you'll find better deals.

We start landscaping our front yard, heading to Mori Gardens in Niagara on the Lake. Every one said how expensive they were. Comparing to other nurseries for the same plants they were about the same price. Comparing to Home Depot Mori was often cheaper or larger. And the quality of the plant at the nursery was far higher. This is probobly because they continue to take care of the plants at the nursery, as opposed to a place like Home Depot.

I think a place like Mori got a rep for being expensive because they carry a number of rarer, larger, groomed fancy plants. Of course these are more expensive! I also preferred this nursery to other because their staff was knowledable, which means I'm more likely to get plants I won't kill. And in the event I do kill the plants they're guarnteed and I can go back and get a replacement.
