Haha I think you guys should relax, I don't believe he is knocking HD DVD. His post reads "IBT (In before the) HD DVD is DEADZZ" or whatever. He is simply insinuating that he beat the Sony fanboys in posting the inevitable "HD DVD is dead" comment haha.
But back on track, any other specific details? Shipping, as was mentioned, and perhaps the actual model number? Could be for A2's for all we know! Cheers!
Edit: Looks like the poster above me cracked the case wide open! Really hot!!

stay away from brault et martineau they have the worst customer service and have a no return policy. They gave me a broken tv off the bat and would not take it back and I had a hard time dealing with the manufacturer finally I used the BBB and brault & martineau agreed to pay me back, they told me I would see the refund on my card within a month... I waited a month and there was nothing I called and they said just come in we will refund you... basically they mislead me and I could of had my refund the same day. Also they sold my brother a dining room table with 6 chairs and at the store the chairs fit nicely in the table but when you get it home and fallow the instructions theres no way for the chairs not to stick out. Turns out the installed it improperly specifically for that reason. When my sister in law pointed it out they simply said sorry. They also lost a co workers love seat but thats another story. Please please stay away...

yes something fishy is going on here..... jesus whats wrong with some people. I am a long time lurker, rare poster. I think it's a good deal for 59$. hell i have an a2 and if i could find an a30 for 59$ i would be all over one. Even if you don't own any hddvd's it's still a great upscaling dvd. I want it as a backup since i own about 25 hdvds i don't plan on rebuying on bluray. Enjoy the deal, if not at least let others enjoy it and stop complaining.

Nope, but I go shop there. The price for the HD-DVD drive is pretty good, but my radar goes off when I see posts from newbie's about how good something is.
It's not that I got a thing against newbie's (as someone else eluded to, we all started somewhere), but historically, newbie's tend to promote stores that are not very well known to many people.
Does this store ship to Toronto and what are the costs?

Part of the reason for that though is, if other people already knew of the store, then someone else would have already found the deal and posted it. Therefore newbs are more likely to find the deals you could otherwise miss.

I went to Bestbuy to do PM with this $59 [A30], but they refused.
It is 200 limited quantity for this HD-DVD Player, it is not qualied to do PM policy.
I paid $129.99 + tax for A30 at Bestbuy yesterday, now it drop the price [$59.99].
I think it is unfair, and I will watch another retailer's price.
My last choice is "Refund....dddddd", I do not want to spend my money for this HD-DVD anymore.

picked up one aboout an hour ago at the Pointe Claire (kirkland) Brault and martineau. They had none in store but 45 left in the warehouse. Mine will be in store on monday or tuesday for pickup. I had called early in the afternoon and they told me there were all sold out in minutes. Since i was at walmart figured i would stop in. I was told right away they had plenty in the warehouse just had to order one. He says they had 186 left as of this morning in warehouse, and at around 8pm they had 44 ( -1 for me) left.

Tell them you want a bill sent to you by regular mail every month for the $1.18. By the time they're done processing each month's payment, it'll cost them $4.50 to recoup their $1.18.

I really wanted this deal, but missed out on Thursday. So I went to my secret weapon - the Liquidation Centre on Cote Vertu. The very helpful guy there hadn't heard of the deal, and his terminal was showing $99.00. I told him it was a one day only sale. He checked stock and saw that they had an open box one... in fact it was the one they opened to take pictures of for the Gazette promotion!
300 and Black Rain were sealed in the box, as was the remote. I asked if he'd let me have it for $59... he went and asked the boss, who said yes, if I bought a 3 year extended warranty for $13. Since I was willing to pay up to $100 for the player, I accepted and have the unit at home with me now!

Unfair?
You live in Calgary; this chain of store only operates out of Quebec. The store doesn't ship either.
Doesn't the BB policy restrict PMs to area stores. If not, you may as well PM some sale price from some remote chain of stores in the USA. Might get better luck with that.

Stick the Best Buy policy to him.
It's any retailer in CANADA, not in the area. They like to make up their own rules. The policy is all over the store, point it out to him and there's no way he can argue with you.
However, they do not price match limited quantity items and I believe that is stated in the fine print of their policy. So you may have an issue there.
But I've ripped it to many Best Buy and FutureShop managers who make up their own rules and tell me "well that's in Calgary, that's in Toronto, that's bla bla bla". I could care less of where it is, as long as it's in Canada and the store is authorized to sell the goods, Best Buy and FutureShop have to beat the advertised price.

It's right in front of the Promenade de L'Outaouis, just on the other side of the train tracks on the north side of Maloney blvd. but this was a one day only sale and the price has supposedly gone back to $99, best to call them and confirm this.
FYI they don't do returns so once you've bought it there is no refund.

Yeah, I've picked up $2000+ worth in speakers for under $700 there before. They're always willing to drop their prices further. They had a nice Sony 1080p 46" LCD for $1500 last night.
I'm disappointed to see that the A30 didn't have analog outs, so that means no Dolby TrueHD for me until I get my new receiver. :(
Oh well. I also ordered 14 HD-DVDs from HMV for just over $115 last night too. I already have the LG combo drive in my HTPC, so now I'll compare PQ between the two solutions.

Yamaha rx-v663 from JR.com in the US, shipped to my mother in law in NYC, or to me directly. FOr a short time they're still honouring the $399 deal, if you say you saw it on avsforum. Call and ask for Alex. I need to do this on Monday! The offer is over, but they're still making exceptions. The normal price is $499. This receiver will give the Onkyo 705 a run for its money, and has a few features over the 605 too.
There's a thread in computer/electronics, where I make this recommendation and a couple of people have bought it already.

Oh for crying out loud Brault & Martineau is a major furniture & appliance and occasional electronics retailer in Montreal. We have a few large city wide known retailers like this, Prillo's, ML, Brault & Martineau aka B&M. They've all been around 20-35yrs each. I remember their tv commercials since I was a kid. Anyway I'd be surprised if they ship to Ontario, I always thought they were a "Province of Quebec Only" (Gatineau & Ottawa included) retailer. They're huge, each location is warehouse sized.
Do any of the Montreal locations still have any left? If I saw this last night I would have waited before taking my Venturer unit out of the box.

Don't think so, was a one day sale last thursday. Most store didn't have much stock, but they would order for you from there warehouse and you could pick-up in store few days later. u should try calling and seeing if they will offer you the deal. But i think they are back to 99$.

Well ... this 'not very well known' retailer generated close to one billion dollars in revenue last year, is the largest furniture retailer in Quebec, and is publicly traded.

LOL Brault et Martineau, the London Drugs/Real Canadian SuperStore/Visions of Quebec!
I'd never heard of the aforementioned stores that are found elsewhere in Canada until I came to RFD.
