Does anyone know of any sites (besides using torrents) where Canadians can watch full episodes of television shows online? The major ones like ABC aren't available to Canadian viewers.
The ones I know of: mtv.ca, and some shows are on ifilm. Global has a few episodes and E! Canada also has a few episodes of programs.
youtube.com doesn't often have full episodes, just parts.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know of any others?

Torrents will be far sharper than youtube even *if* a legitimate show was placed on youtube, or google video.

Well duh torrents are going to be better quality, but that's not what he asked...
What if you're not at your main computer and don't have torrents and want to watch a show? You're out of luck.
What kind of shows are you wanting to watch? Because there are certain sites dedicated to watching certain shows, E.G.

I think this site should have links to the site you're looking for, not sure though, haven't ever really watched TV shows online, apart from southpark :P

Thanks everyone for the info! I'll also look through the thread you posted Octavius.

Yep, that's exactly the reason I was asking. My friend recently got a job working at night. When she was hired, she was told that it is often very slow and she has to be there and not sleep, but at the slow times she can do whatever she wants including surfing the net. Torrent sites are blocked and she tried loading shows onto a USB drive, but media player/winamp doesn't have the right codec there and she gets sound but no picture (not allowed to load the codec onto the work computer).
So I was just asking out of curiosity. In terms of the types of shows, anything really to pass the time. Thanks for the suggestions.

Kinda off-topic, but I was on Yahoo Sports trying to watch a live Canucks game and it wasn't available for my area. Hello, Vancouver is playing... at least try to make it available for Vancouverites.

the average torrent of a popular series like prison break these days has a higher resolution(720p) than even a store bought DVD set of prison break(480p)

I don't disagree with that, however in this case I was specifically asking for options other than torrents as it is not possible to use torrents in this situation.

Wrote about this on my blog (http://www.jonlim.ca/?p=14).
But you can access the streaming CTV site here (http://watch.ctv.ca). Really great resource for free, legal, television streams! Commercials are played, but at most 30 seconds in length.
Enjoy!

My biggest thing that I HATE HATE HATE about these is
a) global doesn't do full screen
and
b) CTV does full screen, until the commercials (every 6 minutes) and then it doesn't stay full screen! you have to repress it every time. SOOOO annoying.

Definitely with you on B. I watch Fringe off CTV with my girlfriend on my TV, and I have to get up every time a commercial comes on to re-click full screen. I wish they let commercials go full screen too!

Just curious what kind of job does she have? Sounds like a very comfortable job. :-0

She was working at a place that did 24 hour telephone answering service for a number of companies. When someone called during off hours, they were directed to this call centre.
I posted this thread in March and since then, she's left that company - she didn't like the shift work and night hours and left in the first few months. It does sound like it would be a comfortable job, but I don't think night work, even if there is free time, is something everyone can do.

http://www.ovguide.com/ is an excellent site to search for videos. It links to such other sites as surfthechannel.com, which will link you to various websites hosting the video of your choosing.
