I think 7/11 and Shoppers Drug Mart sells them. There's a thread on Pre-Paid gift cards in the Personal Finance Section.

Visa and Mastercard are accepted pretty much at the exact same rate with some rare exceptions - go with whichever one has the lowest fees.

there's a fee for using them, so they are not really that great.

Does anybody know if they are Gift Cards or the pre-paid credit cards because in the US they are very different?

the gift cards you get charged for purchasing the card and a load fee. The Prepaid credit cards have activation fees, reload fees and some other tags along with monthly i believe and there fees are higher.

I'll check SDM because so far the only place I know that has Visa Gift Cards is Vancity in Vancouver, and I live in Toronto.
