Was reading through Wikipedia and it somehow connected me to some guy. I clicked on it and I thought it was a mistake or something but this dude lived for 256 years. I wonder if that's possible.

Doubts about his alleged age

It is not likely that his age will ever be authenticated, and most medical authorities doubt such mortality is humanly possible. According to the legend, during the course of his lifetime he had 23 wives and about 200 descendants.

His diet must have consisted of green tea and then more green tea. Seriously, if anyone is seeking the agent of eternal youth, there you go.

Can't get better endorsement than from the oldest person that ever walked the planet.

First off, the subject in question made a longevity claim, but it has never been officially ratified by Guinness or any other authority. There are dozens, upon dozens of individuals claiming to be the oldest person alive, but without proper documentation (census record, birth cert, baptism cert, etc.) they're unofficial at best.

It's kinda ironic that people are mocking Wiki for having an article on a bogus claim, when western media outlets like NYT and TIME originally took the story for face value, without checking up on the supposed evidence of his age claim. Their unfounded reporting is the only reason the individual is even a historic footnote.

wats the oldest guy on record? 114? im happy if i get to 60

A Japanese man held the record for many years... but in the last decade or so, there's been doubts about his age, since he was named after an older brother who died in infancy/childhood. His birth certificate may have been mixed up with his late brother, so his age may have been exaggerated.

I heard of an urban legend that says if an old person lives too long, he/she then will manage to suck off his/her heirs' lifetime to compensate.
