Okay basically 3-4 of us flying out of Toronto/Detroit on May 8th preferably around noon as to not arrive too late. Returning on May 11th, preferably not leaving too early, but not arriving too late back in Toronto/Detroit. Oh, and Mandalay Bay is a must.
I apologize for the very specifics of this request. But if anyone has any ideas/links about getting a deal or even a reasonable price. Or even any vegas deals links in general. It would be greatly appreciated. Fd

I've been checking out Vegas deals recently since I'll be there on May 5. Here are some sites I've been using. So far, the best deal for me is the MGM Grand at $90 on the night of the 5th.

Hey thanks a lot, I'll look into those later when I have more time. Do you think it would be cheaper to book the hotel and flight seperately? Or one of those combo packs from places like travelocity? Fd

I just finished booking a trip to Vegas for a little later in May and spent a LOT of time doing research on prices. In the end it did end up being cheaper for us to book through expedia.ca . I calculated the cost out for pricing the flight and hotel seperately, and it the best I ever got was it working out to be the same price...never better though. For convenience sake, I went with the build your own package. We also need to stay at a specific hotel for our stay.
The one piece of advice I can give you is that when I went to finally book...I wanted to fly westjet...and the price had suddenly shot up about $500. I called expedia and they explained that westjet changes their prices frequently and that it may be lower again the next morning. His explaination was that it was like the stock market and it fluctuates based on demand.
Out of curiousity I added one more night to our stay...and with the fourth night included our total cost went back down almost $500. SO in the end we are saving that much money to stay an extra night...not such a big punishment if you can spare the time. I did pay the small amount of extra money to keep from flying out on the red eye as I don't want our trip to end with us both grumpy and tired. I think it will be well worth it.
I'm not sure if you've already done this too, but if you're thinking of booking seperately, then be sure to sign up with the hotels emailing list to have them let you know of current deal codes...there is also a website that lists all the codes and it's been posted on RFD in the past but I can't think of it right now.
The last few times I was in Vegas it was only for a night on each end of a trip in another city flying in and out of Vegas. I booked through one of the 1-800 numbers in Vegas and ended up paying no more than $75 to stay at the top hotels in the city. I can't do that this time due to needing to stay at the MGM...but if you could stand the disappointment you could always try that. Unless there is something huge going on at the time that you are going you should be able to score a top notch hotel with that method.
Good luck...I'll be following to see how you make out.
sorry this is so wordy...I must be scattered today.

Hey thanks a lot that was a huge help. Unfortunately I just started a new job and won't be able to join the people that are going that time. But I definitely want to try and make it out some other time this year. I'll be sure to pass your advice on to my other friends that are still trying to find a good deal.
