You don't have to go to Honda. Notice how 75% of the items are just "inspect" or "check"? Bring it to your mechanic and save $$.

+1 for taking it elsewhere, I'm sure a local shop won't charge you an arm and a leg for doing the above. I took my car to a Honda dealership for one of those maintenance package before, I knew my brake fluid is low. Guess what, when my car came out, it had the same level of brake fluid. I had to go back inside to ask them to top it up for me. So I guess when they say inspect that means they don't do anything, it's just there to make the list longer, so unsuspecting customers will pay more.

Given that list, inspect means they will LOOK at the item, so they can charge extra if anything else needs to be repaired or replaced.
For the brake fluid, the list indicates they would check it, not top it up for free.

"Type E" is a term honda uses for User Friendly / Marketing purposes.
At your average dealer, you call it "tune up". They should inspect your car fluids, change filters (air / oil etc). Check transmission oil. Look for if anything else is out-of-place.
(Actually its better if you actually mention above items to them).
They should only be charging for your oil change service (or air filter) and do all other inspections for free. ($30-$40 tops)
P.S: For engine oil, use any good big name oil company. For transmission oil *ONLY* use Honda oil. go buy it yourself and give it to mechanic!
Hope this helps :)

Actually, the " Fall & Winter Performance Package only $68.88"
includes the most important stuff and is a pretty good deal
* Oil and filter change. Check for fluid leaks
* Battery load / charging test
* Inspect coolant level and boiling point
* Pressure test cooling system, inspect related hoses and clamps
* Inspect all brakes for wear % and condition
* Inspect brake calipers, wheel cylinders and parking brake
* Inspect tire wear and pressure
* Tire rotation
* Inspect transmission fluid level, power steering level ( if applicable ), brake fluid level, clutch fluid level ( if applicable )
* Inspect drive belt condition (excludes timing belt)
* Inspect distributor cap, rotor (if applicable) and wires
* Inspect windshield wipers, washer jets and blades
* Washer fluid top-up
* Inspect exhaust system
* Inspect springs and shock absorbers
* Inspect all lights and bulbs
* Inspect and lubricate door locks, latches and handles
* Inspect block heater cord
Grab a air filter and a couple dust and pollen filters and a can of lithium grease to lubricate everything, and you're good to go.

Service front and rear brakes.
The only thing I see you might want to take to the dealer is the one above.
The rest of the items below you can do it yourself by buying all the parts you need..
Replace engine oil* and filter.
Rotate tires**, inspect for wear and adjust pressure.
Lubricate all hinges, locks, and latches with multipurpose grease.
Replace dust and pollen filter.
Replace air cleaner element.

By service, I'm pretty sure all they do is check the pad and rotor life, then spray the moving parts down with silicone spray.

If you're paying for that service it had better be more than silicone spray (which won't last more than a day on brakes) that they're using. It better be some suitable brake grease!

Toyota has similar checks at 48K, 96K, etc.
As Whitedart mentioned, inspect really means "Check". I just take my car to my local Toyota/Lexus certified mechanic and have him look at things. He charges me a fraction of what the dealership wants, and he tells me that all it is, is a cash grab.

What do you mean by local Toyota certified mechanic? Does this person was working for toyota in the past? Does someone know any such mechanic in Mississauga?

I take my acura to Nihon Auto near Cawthra+Dundas. They specialize in asian imports and I'm pretty satisfied w/ their work+prices.

How much do they charge for the type E servicing? Like $300? I find the dealer prices are really high for these type A B C servicing. Hell an oil change is like 40 bucks from them now. I do most of it myself and haven't bothered with their services.

My point is NOT that I expect them to do replace/repair stuff for me for free. My point is what's the point of inspecting something if they don't tell you something is not right. If I can see level of my brake fluid is low, the high/low indicator is there for a reason, I'm sure a certified mechanic can. What I am getting at is that they probably didn't even inspect as they are suppose to, that's why they don't know my brake fluid is low. They did top it up for me for free after i point it out to them.
