For all the Canon shooters out there...

It looks like Canon Canada's Spring 2008 rebates are from March 15th to June 30th this year. Generally, Canon Canada's rebates are immediately followed a week or two later by the US rebates.

They are mail-in-rebates and "double" rebates if you buy more than one item.

The Canon website does not have them yet, likely because they aren't available until tomorrow.

Enjoy!

How do the double rebates work? Can two people go in together and order a lens each and then get double their normal rebate? If so, sounds like an opportunity for a lot of collaboration between people.

I'd imagine you'd have to get both items on one receipt to get that. And you probably can't grab 2 70-200 F/4 IS and expect $200 off each. It'd be sweet if you could though, because my friend and I both want it.

Dammit, and I promised myself no L lenses until I got more comfortable with my camera. Waiting till June, waiting till June, waiting till June, waiting till June, waiting till June... X_x

If it's anything like previous years, you don't need to buy both items at the same time. As long as they were both bought from an authorized Canadian retailer, and within the rebate period, you are fine.

The items do have to be different, though, so you can't buy two copies for a double rebate.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Let's say the 70-200 f/2.8 IS' rebate is $100 off and the Speedlite 580 EX II is $50.

I buy both, do I get $200 off the lens and $100 off the Speedlite?

I stand corrected.

There are some exclusions this year, in the fine print:

This promotion is not valid at the following retailers: Future Shop, Best Buy, Costco, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart or Canon E-Store.
You must purchase eligible products at the same time, as evidenced on the same invoice to be eligible for the mail-in-rebate.

Or sometimes a month or two...

Canon US Rebates are leaked. They're instant rebates, so Canadians are eligible.

They start on May 18th.

This would be nice if Futureshop, and other big places are eligible in Canada.
1. Just curious, are the leaked instant US rebates eligible at big places like Futureshop in Canada?
2. Will Canadian retailers automatically decrease their prices as well for the instant rebate? (like US retailers) I notice it as after May 18, so the prices should be lower in Canada. Futureshop doesn't appear to have lower prices.

They are called US rebates for a reason. They only apply when purchasing in the US.

Canadians already have the Spring mail-in rebates.
