Wow great response. Spoken like a true professional photographer. Can you please provide links to all the work you have published in professional magazines.
Or now that you own a DSLR you somehow think you are better than everyone else.

"Things you never thought you could do with your camera"

Not the one making presumptions. Since no one else has felt compelled to comment, I assume most people discovered what you did at least two years ago. Welcome to 2005.

For example:

Its pretty widely know that you can hack firmware in digital cameras. No news here, lets move on.

I searched these forums and found nothing. Maybe some members might find this
info useful. Threadcrappers belong with the kids in Off Topic.

I knew that stuff too before I got a canon camera. Your enticing title leads to disappointment when we already knew about it.

I have been following the CHDK project for awhile now. So it's not new to me either.

No problem. I look froward to trying the lightning capture hack. From what I understand the way to capture lightning with a dslr is to fire off frames non-stop during a storm. If I could get a cheap camera that I bought from a garage sale to do it unmanned why not?

I took 2 pics with my SD 850 IS (JPEG and RAW) and used Raw Therapee to view and edit the RAW images. Here is the result

JPEG:

RAW:
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj218/hightechto/8a1e610b.jpg

Aside from the colour and exposure difference, RAW images show much more detail (i.e. the trees and brickwork) then JPEG. I had to crop the display from Raw Therapee into paint, so you will notice the image does not show the same items.

What do you guys think?
