Falcon Chipset right?

Hey guys,

Just to confirm, on the power supply of the 360 elite, it says:

DC output: 175w max

That means I've got a falcon right?

You're luckier than me. My brick still says 203 watts, so I had to shine a flashlight into the console to actually see if it was a falcon. I'm not too sure but can you use a 203 watt brick with a console that came with a 175 watt brick? Or vice versa?

I actually read somewhere that it is POSSIBLE to have a falcon with a 203w brick. It's not recommended by some though.

I meant what model DVD drive you got in your box - BenQ, Hitachi etc. BenQ harddrive? wha...? Aren't all the hdds the same?

As for power, all of the first batch of falcon chipped consoles packed 203 w power bricks in the box, like mine. I was just wondering whether or not given the difference in subsequent versions that a box designed for a 203 w power brick will run on a 175 w brick. The other way should be fine though, as its excessive power.

Having the 203w power supply is better regardless if you have a Falcon system or not. The 203w can be use with Falcon system and the older non-Falcons. The 175w PS won't work with the older non-Falcon Xboxs, you can't physically plug the connector into the back of the console. It's actually an pretty interesting design, the 203w PS fits in all console but the 175w will only fit in the Falcon.

Ah, didn't know that. Thanks for clearing it up. It's going to be interesting for the consoles from here on in then, as I assume the 175 w is going to become the standard. But then again nobody really replaces just the brick, so it's moot point that only becomes an issue in specific circumstances.

Apparantly they are updateing teh 360 again this summer to another chip as a hoep of reducing the RROD some more which is always a good thing. SHould get it down to single digits and reduce power consumption too. I believe there is a date code or something that shows which are falcons isnt there?

OT: If ms is having a shortage shouldnt there be only falcons now as they dont make the other ones anymore?

Well apparently not all the new ones shipped in are falcons. Like I stated earlier before buying the elite, I was worried as I was being told by the employees of ebgames that the new elites were NOT falcons.

I guess I got lucky with the falcon + benq.

It does make sense that since they are on shortage, they should only be making falcons.

My falconed elite runs quite cool actually in comparison with my Ps3, kinda wierd .
