Hey guys, I haven't been following the PS3 threads - so if this has been answered, I haven't found it in my searches on RFD.
Anyways, I am trying to find an 80gig PS3 bundle (new), and can't seem to. The reason I want an 80gig model, is because I have been told that it is backward compatible and has HDMI...
If anyone can help me locate one for sale (new, in store) in Montreal or Toronto, it would be great.
Thanks -

Need some advice... Should I buy:
- 80gig model bundle with Motorstorm for $499
- 40gig model bundle
I am really confused, as to which one is better, and which one has the best backwards-compatibility for PS2 games....
Thanks -

i thought of gettin the 80gb but its not worth the extra $100. I can't believe I passed by the Dell deal 40gb with a game, movie, and hdmi cable for $399.99

If you want backwards compatibility, your only option is the 80GB Motorstorm pack. Keep in mind, that its software emulated, so it doesn't cover every game in existence. Your best bet would be to look up the list of game you want/plan to play on Sony's official site. You can Google it of course.
Also, the only minor difference if getting the 80GB would be the 4 USB ports as apposed to the 2 USB ports on the 40GB and as well, the 80GB has an SD/Memory Stick reader as well.
Edit: If you're looking for an 80GB at the moment, I've seen quite a few at some of the smaller EB Games in the GTA. Try calling them up and see if they have any.

Thanks for the help! If I wanted hardware compatibility with PS2, which system on the market should I buy (i.e. the 80gig, 40gig, etc.)?
Thanks -

I neglected to mention that~ For hardware emulation, the 60GB or 20GB are the only versions available. Both are current discontinued and Sony does not ever plan to bring them out again because of high manufacturing costs and so on.
If you want to find one. Good luck.

Thanks! Any word if the new PS3 model that is supposed to be coming-out soon will have any backwards-compatibility? I've looked at a few blogs, but can't find an answer...

Future packages would include the DS3(Dual Shock 3) controllers and a bundle with Metal Gear Solid 4. And maybe new colour. Right now I'm going to sell my ps3 80 gig for my friend and then buy a new bundle one. Frankly, I haven't been playing any ps3 exclusive title. I own a xbox 360 and all I'm playing is Rockband and Guitar Hero 3 (on the ps3). It makes a great Blu Ray player to showcase your HD contents.
40 gig or 80 gig

Choose the 40 gig one. The HDD can be upgraded and 2 missing usb ports isn't going to kill you. And ps2 games look so crappy. You could just buy a slim ps2 ^__^

It's the same 80GB model that is currently being sold in the Motorstorm bundle, so yes it will be backwards-compatible through the software/hardware hybrid. Also, all PS3s have HDMI, so don't worry about that. You will have to buy an HDMI cable - $5 should be enough for that:

To those saying "just buy the 40GB and a slim PS2" - don't forget to factor in the cost of a memory card, please show me a first-party wireless PS2 controller that isn't complete rubbish, and don't forget having to have both consoles physically sitting under/beside the TV. ;)

Could you transfer it into a paypal debit card? If you can, I think you could buy it off Amazon, for example, without any problems.

check eBay.
that's probably where you'll find the best deals slash find any 80GB at all.
hardly see them in stores anymore.
