I purposely use my 60mm f2.8 micro lens for portrait tonight, instead of my usual 85mm and it didn't disappoint! Is a pretty good length to work with, I think it will see more action this coming summer! This was a on location shoot... I was ask to help out and had to get everything ready in 1 hour! Me and my buddy did get a awesome meal out of this, LoL
CC are welcome!

You should really stop naming yourself after your toys "2000fordfocus". You will want to switch to another name soon enough.
Nice portraits. The 60mm F2.8 macro is really REALLY sharp. My friend keeps asking me to shoot with it but I personally don't like using it as it is not always constant at F2.8 but it actually creeps based on how close you are to the subject.
I prefer using the 85mm F1.8 or 50mm F1.8. I am saving up for a 30mm F1.4 too which would be nice for some "environmental portraits".
For C&C:
Personally I do not like weird aspect ratio crops. It makes it harder to print! So although the photo may look better with an unusual crop factor I try to keep my own photos in 4x6, 8x10, 1x1 style.
The light in both photos is very even and pleasing. Nice work. I see three catchlights in the eyes which is sorta weird but isn't too noticable if you aren't looking for it.
The second photo works a lot better for me as the first on is awkwardly posed? The girl on the camera left is too close and has her head positioned weirdly in relation to the girl on camera right. I would try to hit the girl on camera right with less flat lighting to slim her face with shadows a bit.
For the second photo I really like it and have nothing but praise for it. I may be nitpicking with my comments but we can't learn and become better photographers when all we say is "Nice work!".
I look forward to seeing more of your work here on this board as I know you've been here for a while but I haven't had a chance to see much of your stuff! Feel free to share more with us.

Ok, I had a few Cognac before the shoot began! So that`s my excuse for everything! LoL.... Chinese wedding are always like that, they like Cognac which I think is a little too strong... I prefer red wine for these occasion.
Thx for the feedback, I am considering photoshop out the catch light shown on the first picture(leaving one of course), but I thought the girl in the left look kind of cute with it, but not the other girl through...
I am starting to find real limitation with my tiny moon unit (is for ringflash), a large Octa and stripebox will eventually be mine! eventually! The light do look a bit flat on her face... hmm... Oops, too late now... But for wedding stuff, i tend to stay simple and nothing too fancy, is just too risky...
BTW, so you have a 60mm too, nice! We have very similar lens setup! Get the 35mm f2 over sigma 30mm! I try it at a local store 3 weeks ago, major color issue with that copy, it might be just that... but I am not convince....

1st pic = anime style sparkly eyes. Not much comments because I'm not a photographer, just peeking in though.

I think at one point we had EXACTLY the same setup. Except for bodies that is. I love my (well my father's) 85mm F1.8. The bokeh is gorgeous and makes for a great event photography/portrait lens for me.
I like the F1.4 of the Sigma over the F2 of the Nikon. I want to EVENTUALLY get into weddings like you ... and I like how a lot of the wedding photographers creatively use their depth of field. Do you have any more wedding photos from that day?
+1 on the anime eyes! ;)

Wedding is not really my preference and I will never do it again for money... is too much pressure~! When I do them as a favor, you actually can have fun!
For some reason, wedding event will come and this year, I will try to setup more light as they seems to like it alot... same for me, I hate using my SB800 on camera~
I haven't recalibrate my laptop monitor for couple of months now, let me know if you find them off~~ I'll calibrate them sometime today... As you can see, I can't even afford a decent LCD for photo editing~~

i'm no photographer but here's what i think :P
for the 2nd pic, the girl's left eye looks a bit lifeless/creepy, and the guy's hair look too dry (can't think of a better word), the girl on the left in the 1st pic has nice shiny hair!

And do they know their photos are being posted on a major forum that's opened to scrutinizing?
