If I purchase one, do dealerships consider this as a reliable source of information? I'm just asking because I'm looking for a used car and trying to figure out whether bringing the book would make any difference in terms of my bargaining power.

Not cure about the one you mentioned, but carcostcanada.com was one I used.

Very good site... Been a member for a while now. Pick your car/truck, pic the trim, pick the options and it spits out the msrp, dealer inv price, "undisclosed" factory to dealer incentives, etc... Very helpful in pereparing you to go in armed with accurate info when buying.

Saved over $10K a year and a half ago when we got my wife's maxed out G6 GTP. Sticker was ~$44K (+ tax, delivery, etc) and we walked out (eventually) with ~$34K all in. It really helped knowing that GM was offering the dealer nearly $5K "secretly" (trading credit) for clearing out a premium '06 model. Of course we didn't bring this up until AFTER we negotiated the price down about $6K from sticker.

P.S.-- They also offer a discount for CAA members!

Thanks for the response. I'm looking at an Acura 1.7EL used and I see that autotrader.ca dealers have it listed at about $12k. I was hoping to bring it down to about $10k. You think that would be possible?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think carcostcanada has reports for used vehicles.

Dealers use the Canadian Black Book to determine trade in value. You can access the online black book by going to the Toyota Canada web site. Click on Vehicles and it should show up in the navigation as "Appraise your trade-in." It's also available on the GM website but is harder to find.

The Canadian Red Book is for private sales only. Your local libary should have a copy of this on hand.

So that means, I can pretty much show it to the dealer and use it for bargaining right? I'm really not good with talking to salesmen.
