Show her the world . . . cares!

A friend’s daughter is dealing with a difficult situation. Her best friend, Kelsey, has Astrocytoma and underwent surgery on March 10/08 to remove approximately half of the cancerous tumor on her brainstem.

Doctors have done all they can do to prolong her life however it is unknown by how much.

Kelsey’s grade 11 class at Martin Collegiate are leaving on a trip to Italy next week (March 18/08) without her.
We were thinking why not try to bring it to her and why not make it the entire world!!

We’re asking that wherever you live in the world; please send Kelsey a postcard so she can see it.

You don’t have to write anything; just sending it along will show her people all over the world care.

It would be great for Kelsey to receive many postcards from all over so please feel free to forward this on to anyone you know living around the world!

I am told she was quite depressed that she couldn't go to Italy, after planning it for many months.

Thanks!

Hopefully this is your address, and not hers . . .I will send out a post card tomorrow for support. I was in a similar situation in 2000 (grade 10) with an intra ventricular tumour roughly the size of a full grown man's fist!

Thank YOU so much!

I imagine that you are completely healed & doing well.

All the best to you!

Actually, a little google work will show that this address belongs to a child care worker in SK. I figured this was just a funny way of email forward at first and wanted to check.

There's a good possibility this one is real, despite the fact it's written like a forward.

Google is gods gift to stalkers .. going to see if I can grab one off my room mate from Detroit.

Kelsey's mom is a child care worker.
My co-worker's daughter is best friend's with Kelsey, and I suggested the postcard from the world idea after remembering another RFDer's request last year for get well card for his niece who was ill, and loved getting mail.

We've been getting daily reports about her, and heard that she had been a little depressed before the surgery. And now, we are hoping that perhaps the postcards will make a recovery a little easier if not put a smile on her face, and lift her spirit.

Thanks again.

Free bump for you.

C'mon folks, for under $5 you can do something nice. This forum should be plenty popular enough to get this little girl a few hundred cards.

Kelsey is out of the hospital, and doing well.
She has lost some peripheral vision, and bumps into things.
She is looking forward to her 1st postcard, and wishes she was going to Italy with her classmates tomorrow.

Thanks!

Kelsey got 4 postcards!
She got one post card from Vancouver, one from PEI, one from St John's and one from Alcatraz! (mailed from someone in Canada).

Her story has been mentionned in the following links:
http://www.laineygossip.com/March_14_2008__Smutty_ShoutOuts.aspx

And on the radio:
http://ondemand.rawlco.com/shows/john-gormley-live/home (download the audio file that's at 48:39 minutes. They talk about her at 3:45 minutes)

Thanks for reading and keep sending these postcards!!!!

Thank YOU!!

If you know anyone else, pass it on.

She had her staples removed yesterday, and according to her mother it wasn't a pleasant experience. She had 34 of them. Poor kid.
