Hello guys...
I am thinking to buy 08 Benz C-Class 300 or 4-matic in Ottawa/Kingston or around GTA..
But as you know, this car is really hot and many customers who already ordered this model have been waiting for 4~5 months to receive their cars..
It means "no deals" or almost MSRP price to get benz C-300.
The thing what I want to know is~~~
1. In Luxury brands and hot models...like BMW, Benz, Audi etc.....
Usually How much do I bet first? Under Cad$1500/2000 from MSRP??
2. If there is any owner of benz C300/350/4matic in this forum then how much you bought car?
Please kindly let me know about it ..
Thank you.

You may have some negotiation room. Most of these cars are leased.
The German companies have had a serious problem with the value of the Euro being high relative to the American dollar. The dealer margins are narrower, and they are disinclined to offer incentives and rebates. I test drove a c230 4matic, and I found that level of standard equipment was pitiful comapred to the Japanese competition.
I've carcosted the a4 2.0T quattro auto, the g35x, the is250 awd and the g35x. If you want the invoice prices on anyone I'll be happy to provide it to you.

In my experience, BMW and Audi will deal. In fact, you can even play dealers off one another. MB will not budge (unless they have a promotion going on). It is generally a take or leave it deal (unless you're a repeat customer buying an S-class).
Go search on brand-specific discussions forums. I don't know about the current C-Class, but I know that the E90-series bimmers can go for 6% to 8% off list in TO.
Yeah, MB and BMW certainly feel "de-contented" compared to other makes. But, I prefer the "Teutonic" efficiency and minimalism in the interiors.

you will be very very hard pressed to get more than $2k off the price of this car. I tooke delivery after waiting 5 months, got $1500. I think at that point they were still making $2000-2500 of me if i remember correctly

Would you guys just buy your own carcostcanada report!? Come on, at this stage it's 0.025% of the overall purchase price or less.

I am in the midst of negotiation with the MB dealer for a C Class. The problem is that there are very few 2008 C300's out there and those that are there are ones that no one seems to want (colour wrong or options wrong). There are a few C230 still around and coming in on the boat and I think that I will end up getting a C230 premium sport.
I am presently driving a 325i Executive BMW and I have had enough of the overall BMW Experience. Time to move on to something new. The C230 has the same power and torque as the new 323 and that is good enough for me (the 328, while more powerful but same look and feel, is considerably more expensive). BMW actually lowered the price and interest rate for the first time and that sort of tells me that they have more cars than they need.
I tried the Infinity/Lexus/Acura/Audi vehicles in the same range and they are noteworthy but no matter what you say, in my opinion, BMW and Mercedes still have a certain mystique about them. I am more apt to like the engineering than the gadgetry. This is my opinion only so easy on me please :)
The C300 is sold out in Canada for 2008. The dealer said there are a few July deliveries that may be coming available, after that there is a manufacturing pause and the 2009 will come out (higher in price for sure). So, if you find one, it is probably someone else's discard.

I test drove the c230 4matic, and I found it under-equipped for the price. "Arctico Leather" on a 40K car. No thanks.

It's also horrendously slow off the line, not unlike the 323i.

It weighs the same as your beloved G35x!

Ahh, but the G35x has much more engine. And the G35x is a bigger car, so naturally it should weigh more.
The problem with the 323i needing the gas pedal kicked to get anywhere is alleviated with the 328i's better engine. I didn't try the C300, but I assume that it would be a huge improvement over the C230's lack of "get up and go".

Yes, there is a significant "ump" between the c230 and c300. After the picked up the c300 4matic, my sales guy gave the the c230 4matic overnight to see the difference. boy - there is a bit.
Between BMW and MB, BMW wins hands down in terms of 0-60 and handling. however, I like the drive of the MB better. MB is more refined in their driving, more balance between performance and luxury. BMW is more geared towards performance.
we did not look at the g35x. the new g35x looks nice, but I find after a few years, the drive is not that good compared to european cars. Just my opinion.

Yeah, there's just something about the BMW I don't like. The seating position is awkward for someone as tall as I am (6'6") as I have to sit on the floor and the wheel doesn't telescope out as much as I want it to. Plus, I find the steering unnecessarily heavy.
Overall, I did like what the C230 offered, but for me the G35x just fits better...luxury and performance wise, it's a great car. There's no way to know what the car will drive like in a few years, but at least the engine is reputably solid, and I have AWD for those tough moments in the snow. Plus real leather which neither the MBs nor the BMWs have.

Motor trend kept had g35x on a long term test and after 50K miles, it was doing extremely well, and required very little maintenance.
