So my last car was old and is now in car heaven. I am a 23 year old male and looking for a new car hopefully somewhere between 5-10K. I really just want something that will be reliable and decent on insurance. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys

I assume you mean new-to-you, because you can't actually get a brand new car for $10K except for that $9995 Hyundai Accent Quebec deal...
How about GM W bodies? :)

Correct me if i am wrong but last week or so I saw 2008 Kia Rio advertised on the Metro newspaper (Toronto) for Kia and the '08 Kia Rio starting price is $9,999 cash purchase or something like that. but for sure the $9,999

These are all used but pretty decent cars in my opinion.
Civic, Integra, prelude
SX 2.0, Accent, Echo, Swift, Aveo
All of these cars are in your price range, and can be bought with very low KMs. All of these are cars are pretty good on gas, and should last a number of years without issues.

Civic/Integra/Prelude won't be "decent on insurance"

Prelude is not cheap on insurance and is an oil burner (unless you got a babied one) the h22a motors are oil burners.
Civic would be my choice, 01+.

Depends on your age, where you live, which insurance company you deal with, and your driving history.
Echoes are relatively inexpensive, reliable, cheap on gas, but not sure about the insurance. I pay $109/mnth for the Prelude, so I would think the Echo if I were to insure one would be slightly less?
