Henry's website link mentions that: ***Autofocus is supported only with AF-S and AF-I CPU lenses, which are equipped with built-in motors.

Does this mean that the autofocus will not work on the 18-55 II LENS ? If so, what additional lens should I be looking to purchase so I can use the autofocus function?

Thanks.

D40 will autofocus only with AF-S lenses. The 18-55 is an AF-S lens. In other words, the lens has to have the AF motor built into it. Sigma calls it HSM, Nikon calls it AF-S.

Thanks Najibs. It's good to know I will not have to fork out another amount for an autofocus lens.

I was just looking into purchasing in the US when I read this:

Nikon is very strict about cross-border warranties.
