Is anyone using one of these? Are they useful? Seems decent for 13.99

I got one of those.. works fine. Nothing special but it allows you to store it properly and comes with a cover. Not the most sturdy thing tho, but you get what you pay for...

Picked up one of these and set it up yesterday.
Definitely better for storing tires than just stacking them on top of each other and I like that it comes with a cover. As mentioned by the previous poster, could be more sturdy and I wish the base had wheels so that it could be moved around with the tires stacked on...
But I think it's a good deal at the sale price this week

Exactly what I am looking for. Hopefully, they are sturdy enough for SUV tires+wheels

That is an awesome price! i bought mine for $19.99 (on sale)
it's holdin' my 18"x8" wide wheels/tires pretty well...
but i was surprise that they used plastic plates to hold the
wheels, i thought it would be at least steel or iron or some sort....
overall, i'm pretty impress...easy to assemble too

Finally on sale again! I've been waiting for this to come back on sale for a long time. Thanks McLaren! Looks like you indirectly posted a hot deal in the MVA :D
I've never used one and I hear it's not perfect, but it is really the best way to store your tyres, both spacewise and for the tyres themselves. Stacking tyres vertically with the weight on their sidewalls is a definite no-no; and standing them upright leaning against a wall takes up more space. This takes almost all the load off the tyre structure and takes up less space by stacking vertically.
I've read that it might not be super sturdy (as others have mentioned as well) but in theory it makes a lot of sense and I'm sure it can't be that bad as long as you don't move it around a lot.

I bought this when it was on sale for $14 last year. Works good. Can't go wrong with only $14.

I got one too.
I am storing my summer set right now and they are 19".
If you have wider size rims and tires, then you might have a problem with height.

Sounds good then. I might need to store my winter rims if no one buys them and store my summers.

Nope, never use it as a wheel stand, the picture is photoshopped. I use it as a Festivus tree only.

LOL I'm guessing he meant on the bottom of the stand so it wouldn't be stationary, but mobile to wheel/move around.. smart a$$es
Just picked this up too.. been waiting forever for it to drop from $34.99 after the last sale I missed!

I bought two of these and I must say flimsy doesn't even begin to tell the story, lol.
Unfortunately you easily realise upon assembly that there are several areas they could have improved...
They could have made locking parts with like the old-skool vacuum cleaner locking tabs for the metal parts (but they didn't). Also the base and the lower tube could lock together, but again no locking there.
Casters as other people have mentioned, would be nice as well but not there, not even provisions for them :(
The way the tyres/wheels are on it, it seems their weight provides all the stability there is on this thing. Without wheels it's very unstable, with wheels it's just barely stable and the wheels are easy to rock back and forth. If you just set it up, load the wheels on and leave it there, it seems perfectly fine. However don't expect to move this thing anywhere or have it somewhere where it might be bumped into or otherwise touched at all, lol.
Again for the basement or garage, in a place you'd never see or touch it, it's alright. For $14 it's alright. I'm not returning them. However, when people say it's flimsy/unstable they are certainly not exaggerating!
All in all, for $14 I'm not complaining, but for $35 I would be.

truthfully, i dont really like the design in general.
it requires you take off the center caps of your rims in order to use it. not like its critical, but i find the floor and cardboard inbetween each tire works for me

I think you might still run the potential for flat spots if you do that. I would just hang my rims.

I'm not too worries about that.. isn't that how they stack new tires? Sure they are lighter because of no rims but they put a lot more than 4-5 high

Tyres are never stacked on their sidewalls inflated with air and mounted on rims, if that's what you mean. In fact if that is what you are doing, I would not be suprised if you encounter a sidewall bulge or blowout at some point, even with high quality tyres. Tyres are never meant to have their weight on their sidewalls.

So what is proper way of storing tires for 6 months or so? On their treads with proper normal PSI or pump it higher? I bought one of CT tire stands and am accepting the fact that I got what I paid for. Costco has tire storage unit with wheels on the bottom for mobility for like $58. I wasn't prepared to spend that much on tire storage unit.

Yeah on the treads is better, though you will have to put them on an angle so they don't move so some load is still on the sidewall that way, but not as much as with stacking.
If you have the CT stand, you're fine because the load is held by the wheel while the tyre is suspended in the air and encounters no load (well except for gravity acting on the tyre but there is no contact with any surfaces as there would be with simple stacking). For that reason the type of stand like the CT one, is the best way to store your wheels/tyres.
