Does anyone know where I can get an upholstered glider/rocker for a good price.

I've seen them at Pottery Barn Kids - but they are way overpriced. They look like this one:
http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/w5231/index.cfm?pkey=cfrnrck%7Cb
-although I don't like the fabric.

There is this company that makes them http://www.dutailier.com/nursery.php
- but the one store I went into in order to get a price, quoted me almost $800.

I'd like to get one of these gliders for the nursery; it just seems so much more comfortable. I just can't spend that kind of $ on it.

You don't say what your budget is for this but I will tell you that believe it or not Walmart carries a glider rocker. It's not wood, it's steel framed and it reclines as well. We actually bought one for our 18 yr old as a Christmas gift and I have to say, it's actually quite comfy. It was in the $100 range, maybe $129 IIRC...

Hey S U,

We're looking at getting an upholstered glider also and, if you want to buy something of decent quality, the price is going to be high. To help justify the cost a bit, we're planning to use the chair in our living room once we don't need it for the baby so the idea is to pick a fabric that will work well with the rest of our decor.

Currently we're looking into a chair by Monte called the "Low Rider Glider". It's a bit more modern than the Potter Barn Kids chair and it doesn't come in as many fabric choices but it's very comfortable and will work well with our other living room furniture when the time comes. Monte also makes another chair called the "Luca Glider". We were quoted $849+tax here in Ottawa for either Monte gliders and that includes shipping to our door.

Dutailier makes a few different upholstered gliders but most have a rounded back which we're not a huge fan of.

One thing I can tell you though is to be sure to order it well in advance. I'm not sure about Pottery Barn or Dutailier but Monte needs 6-8 weeks.

Hope this helps.

We bought a dutaillier that we put together with slip covers. Pretty nice. I think it was $500-600, no glider.
http://www.dutailier.com/nursery.php we have a 150 series.
Actually looks a lot like the one at Costco, $515 with a glider - would've gotten that one if it was available 2 months ago.

Zellers has one. Quite nice for the money (200 when on sale, 230 regular).

I only saw the wooden glider in the missauga store.
I'm sure you can call your local store to see if they carry it.
They've got new stock on other items like change table, crib, mattress.

Check craigslist, I see ads for rockers and gliders all the time.

We have a dark blue leather glider that we bought at Macklems in 2003 for 800+taxes.

Looks similar to this.

I'd be willing to take offers on it. It's barely used.

If you have your heart set on a Dutailier ... seek out a friend / family member who has a Direct Buy membership. It will save you at least $200
