Pocket Camera for Taking Pictures of Baby

Hi fellow RFDers,

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for a compact camera for taking pictures of my baby? I have a Sony H1 that I bought a couple of years ago, but my wife wants another one because

a) she hates how big the H1 is
b) the H1's max ISO is 400, which isn't great a lot of time taking fast indoor shots

Our main purpose these days is to take picture of our 3 month old. I am looking for a compact camera that is fast shot-to-shot, has decent (usable ISO), and good picture quality, don't care about a lot of settings cuz my wife won't use them.

Originally I was excited reading about the Fuji F50 but after testing it in the store, the shot-to-shot performance was way too slow. Babies don't pose so the best way to get good shots is to rapid fire and sort later, so I need good shot-to-shot performance.

Unfortunately, there isn't any P&S that would give you what you are asking for that I am aware of. They all are not very good at focusing quick indoors (under poor lighting in general) so while shot-to-shot may be "acceptable", the object may not be in focus (which makes the whole thing pretty useless), especially when moving. Shot-to-shot is only one thing to look for. Focusing speed is another and for moving baby + indoors, forget P&S.

+1. For high-ISO, you were on the right track with the F50, but in general you'd be hard-pressed to find a P&S that is going to be as fast as you say you'd like.

I'm in the same boat with the baby and I'm going with a D80 DSLR to supplement my Fuji F40. Just my 2 cents.

I have a Fuji F20 and it is nowhere near fast enough for my tastes to capture moving niece indoors unless I use flash. The Fuji F10/20/30/31fd were the best in terms of high ISO on a P&S.
