Jesus christ it's over 3 feet long!!

One reviewer complained that it's hard to play with due to it's mass. I hope that wasn't an adult.

The Star Destroyer looks awesome, however the Millennium Falcon is even more ridiculous.

Over 33" long, 22" wide and 8" tall and over 5,000 pieces (and built TO SCALE with lego minifigures!)

If I were a diehard SW fan I'd buy a sweet diecast model for $300 and save myself the time and aggravation of building this beast out of lego.

Why is the Millenium Falcon like $700? My cousin got this like 5 years ago and I know he didn't pay that much.

This is the 2nd version, everything it to scale to the figures.

The 1st one is not to scale, so it's smaller and has less pieces.

I hope you know this is the Death Star "2" in Return of Jedi which is unfinished.

But if that's your attempt to be funny, keep your day job. :D

...A few weeks ago I bought a Lego set at Walmart to see if I would still enjoy playing with it now as much as I did when I was a kid...being an adult I found it wasnt nearly as much fun as it used to be...:( ...which is too bad because these new sets look really cool...

I bought some Lego off Ebay a while back and I concur. It wasn't as much fun as when I was a kid (I suppose I should have expected that). I kept worrying that I would get shorted a piece (and it did happen a few times). I bought the smaller Star Destroyer and was pretty unimpressed when I was done. Its bascially just a grey triangle. I have the smaller Falcon as well; it held my Logitech wireless base for a while, otherwise it mostly collects dust.

Nothing like trying to be a kid again :)

Actually...this is the 3rd Version. This is the UCS version that contains over 5000 peices. The one from appox 2004, Set #4504 contained approx 985 peices. And prior to that, in 2000 there was set #7190, which was even smaller. The detail on the gone up dramatically!!! The UCS version is actually the largest set sold to date.

I have been tempted to buy these for awhile. Love Lego, but I hate Star Wars, and cannot imagine where and why I would want to put that collector's edition Falcon in my house. It is massive and pretty ugly.

I was being facetious, but evidently that's a notion that escapes you.

So long as it amuses me (which it does) that's all that matters.

Notice that Lego is still still screwing Canadians on the exchange rate. It's on sale for the CDN$299.99. The U.S. sale price? US$199.99. It makes my blood boil. To see U.S. price change the country at the top of the page.

strange that noone has mentioned the US prices yet especially with out high value dollar :)

Wow, I never noticed the American pricing. That actually turns this into a MUCH better deal for those with an American address. If this is still available in a few weeks I might order and pick up the Star Distroyer in the States on March break.

I also think it is worth a strongly worded email to Lego re the price difference.

MODS: can someone pls add the American pricing to the title

Very sad to see such a price difference between canada/us.. When will they learn..

On another note, these models look awesome. The millenium falcon looks cool, but 700$! No thanks. A received the X-wing collector series as a present about 7 years ago. Was fun to build back then (I was about 20) I still have it on display in my room.

Don't know how much fun these would be, many years later. I wish they had these when I was a kid though. I was a huge lego and Star Wars fan! Used to spend all my $ on Legos.

My canned response...Ford, GM and the rest of the auto makers can change their prices within a few weeks of parity but Lego can't????

Dear Dogbolter
Thank you for your email regarding the prices of LEGOŽ products.

Due to differences in economics around the world, product prices are established globally
for each specific country or market area. There may be many variables including taxes,
exchange rates and country laws which can affect the market value.

Suggested retail prices for our product assortment are determined well in advance. We rely
on professional studies of the dollar fluctuations over a multi year horizon to determine the
suggested retail price which will not change during the product assortment year. The
suggested retail price of our products has historically not fluctuated every time the value of
the dollar rises or falls to maintain an annual harmonized price. Our website and our catalogue
reflect the set suggested retail prices.

However, comments from our consumers are extremely important to us and please be assured
that I have forwarded your remarks to Management.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if we can be of further assistance. We wish you
many more happy hours of creative building with LEGO brand toys in the years to come.

Less can't and more don't want to. Unless everyone starts boycotting Canadian retailers (which I really don't see happening) they are going to continue to gouge us. Onyko is another great example of Canadian's getting ripped off.

Not that I don't want to enjoy the US pricing on LEGO products, but:

1) I think Ford, GM etc. are slightly bigger companies than LEGO.

2) LEGO is a Danish company so all of its business is done with the Kroner. CDN$ vs Kroner hasn't changed so it doesn't make sense to lower the CDN price. Being the largest market, LEGO can't afford to raise the US price...

2) LEGO is a Danish company so all of its business is done with the Kroner. CDN$ vs Kroner hasn't changed so it doesn't make sense to lower the CDN price. Being the largest market, LEGO can't afford to raise the US price...

Which makes it totally illogical when you read that sentence, since the USD drops and the price has remained the same on both sides (with the USA always being cheaper), it now makes even more sense for consumers to stop buying Lego inside of Canada, so then for department stores, shops etc it makes sense to stop bothering to stock it, since it becomes wasted shelf advertising space (gathering dust).

Hence the USA market grows ever larger while they loose the Canadian market, good business practise that LMAO crazy and well idiotic at best (you have to question does this business think on a global scale at all... ever?). Say maybe that's their plan lower their distribution costs by only distributing to America and getting the people/businesses inside to distribute it worldwide for them.

The overall thing is where ever the price is the lowest will always be the largest market, but a lot of the buyers are not going to even live inside that market and would spend more on the product if they could get it lower for less inside their own market (postage paid is profit lost on other potential purchases - well probably).

EDIT: To be honnest it seems most companies cannot understand the simplest of human natures anymore, let alone understand the global market place.

And sorry for going a little OT but the UK is even crazier than this - if you can believe that LMAO

She must be friends with the JoAnn my message was from. Hopefully if we keep bugging, these gals will get together and wake up the rest of the Lego people.
