here is the list of titles available from the mail in "5 free HD-DVDs" offer, in five categories:
Category A:
Aeon Flux
Babel
Freedom Writers
Category B:
The Hulk
Pitch Black
The Thing
Category c:
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
TMNT
Full Metal Jacket
Category D:
Firewall
The Frighteners
U2: Rattle & Hum
Category E:
Black Rain
Darkman
Syriana
If you're like me, you would prefer to be able to pick your movies regardless of category.
I wonder if all of us who have recently purchased the X360 drive might pool our resources and see if we could order and trade discs from various categories.
So I'm suggesting that we post our 5 favourite titles REGARDLESS of category and maybe we could work out a deal where if one person wants two titles form cat B and another wants 2 titles from cat C then they cooperate and order the other titles for trade.
Anyone wanting THREE titles from a given category, well, that makes it a bit more complicated, but to start things off
My 5:
The Hulk (Underrated: Ang Lee's take was affected by studio meddling)
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (lurve Tim Burton! True to the book)
The Frighteners (the effects don't age well, but hey, it's Peter Jackson!)
Darkman (Sam Raimi's first 'mainstream success')
So, I'm undecided on the last two:
Aeon Flux (supposedly bad, but probably has some redeeming qualities)
U2: Rattle & Hum (The Joshua Tree tour: I somehow managed to get tickets to the Toronto stop on that tour, so it has sentimental value)
So, I either (coincidentally) want one from each category, or I want none from Cat A and two from Cat D. So, I want to trade with someone who wants NONE from cat D and two from cat A. See how it works? Fun!
Also, I'd be willing to consider trades... so if any owners of HD-DVDs (or Blu-Ray... I have a dual format player) want to trade for any of the titles in the free offer, that could be arranged.
Mailing an HD-DVD via regular surface mail is only in the $2 range, so I think it could be done country-wide, but we could also set it up for local exchange, too.
Mods: if this is in the wrong forum, please move it and let me know, but with all the HD-DVD chatter in the "Hot Deals" forum, I thought it smart to address the "critical mass" of HD-DVD X360 purchasers.
