you can pick up most brands for ~$35. Just make sure you buy the same interface as your existing drive (either PATA or SATA).
Samsung, Pioneer, LG. They all work great. I even forgot which brand I put in my unit a few months ago...

Most people just call these IDE.
$28.88 at TD Direct. You can price match at NCIX and save a dollar and the express shipping is only $10.

If you were to provide us with a location, we could provide you with local stores.
All optical drives can read CD-RW's. Don't worry about that.

You can still buy a Plextor 716? They've been obsolete for awhile.
Being someone who likes CD-DA, and Plextor seemingly to not make anymore writers, I would get the Plextor. Obviously, the price doesn't make this drive the best choice for everyone.

With NCIX there's a way to set it up as a account in your online banking (the major banks, not President's Choice or small banks). You set them up as an account you pay (like you'd set up Bell - like a bill payment).
You go through the NCIX checkout and you choose to pay through your bank account after you've set it up.
After you get an email with your total and pay it through your online banking.
I've done this many times.
