How can I install traditional Chinese input onto my new laptop?

I bought a laptop (Vista) from Future Shop last Nov and I have been wanting to install chinese input on it. How can I do it? Can someone please list out the detailed steps I should go about doing it? (I know I need an original vista cd...)

Start
Control Panel (switch to classic View)
Regional & Language Options
Keyboards & languages
Change keyboards
Add
Select - Chinese (Taiwan)
Select - Keyboard
Select - Chinese (Traditional)- Quick (or your choice of input method)
OK
OK

Open up Word or something like that and toggle between input methods using the SHIFT - ALT key. (you will see an icon on the bottom right corner)

You may wish to change your non-Unicode programs to Chinese as well. This will help you display more chinese characters...ie imbedded MP3 stuff, possible messenger probelms, etc.

Your OS lanuage will still display english.

Start

Change system locale...
Select - Chinese (Taiwan)

Restart now (requires reboot)

don't mean to hijack but is there a way to get the GUI in Chinese without having to get a localized version of XP?

the OP was just looking for inputing chinese and thats the way to do it.

The way you are talking about is installing the whole language pack for Vista and making the whole OS chinese. The pack is about 300mb d/l.

From what I understand, you need to install a Chinese Version of XP if you want the o/s to be chinese. If you just want to input chinese characters in XP; the steps above are almost the same.

if you use Messenger inputing chinese and your fiends can't see your chinese or theirs; follow step 2.

This also helps out on the MP3 stuff, importing chinese bookmarks as well if you need it.
