Well, I just noticed just now (after a program prompted me), that my ram is 1gb. I forgot about it when I built it like 2 years or so ago. Anyways, I was wondering is there any cheap places to buy a gig of ram DDR400.
I would prefer dual channel (if its better).

I was also wondering if mixing brand of ram is a problem

Currently my ram is:
OCZ (OCZ4001024PDC-K) PC-3200 DDR400 1GB (512MB x 2) Premier Dual Channel CAS2.5 (http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=003982&cid=RAM.346.341)

Thanks in Advance.

edit: Also Wondering if i should just build a new PC, its running perfectly and however

SONATA II
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
AMD X2 3800 (s939)
1GB RAM
960GB (3 x 320 SATA HD)
ATI x800xl (upgrading it soon, i hope)
Sound Blaster X-FI Platinum

If it's running fine, and does everything you want it to do, and at an acceptable speed, you don't need a new system.

Buy the ram used if you can because it is now more expensive (new) vs DDR2.
If you're worried about DOA and stuff, look for brands that offer lifetime warranties.

I don't have time to look up your mobo info, but there's probably have a list of compatible memory modules.
Mixing brands is okay, but stick as close to the specs of the ram that you have already, that is, look for ram rated at Cas 2.5.

Yeah, I'm also running PC3200 ram and I just recently upgraded to Vista, thus I'm out looking for more ram.

For 1 gb its only around 20~30 but to get 2 gb, its significantly more expensive unfortunately...

Too bad my mobo only has 4 slots for DDR config. Would be nice if it had 6.

if you have 3GB of system ram + a 512MB video card windows won't see all the ram anyway. Better off with a matched pair of 512MB. If you want to save $$ get a single 1GB. It won't be DC but he real world differences are minimal anyway.

Actually, I think he would. Windows can read 4GB of memory, and the average is around 3GB of usuable memory.

I never said I had 3 gigs... I only have 1 and thats why i was thinking about getting another gig to make it 2 =)

Anyways, the mixing ram question... is that a problem? and is 2 512MB better then a 1GB?
