Grisoft AVG is probably the best free anti virus you can get.

i don't use any antivirus at all, i do regular back up of my pc and format and do clean install every 6 months.

Live One Care is a piece of junk... horribly slow and doesn't always remember your configuration between reboots (this was on a new computer that I had to do some work on so YMMV)

Best free Anti virus program out there is AVIRA.
VERY good program, and most importantly it's free.

Norton & AVG have horrible detections comparing to this.

If you are on Shaw internet, you can use their free AV software. It seems to work well and the price is right.
